I'm sure it comes as no surprise to most of us that we act out precisely what we take in. In other words, we become what we think. Long before that familiar line found its way into Psychology 101 and hyped-up sales meetings, the Bible included it in one of its ancient scrolls. It just said it in a little different way: "For as he thinks within himself, so he is" (Proverbs 23:7).

These feelings and the many anxieties that accompany turmoil in the world, reflects Todd Sperber, make events like Saturday’s Walk for Jesus in Winnipeg all the more important.

“With narratives of rumours of wars and so much negativity and cultural division,” he says. “So we are coming together to walk for Jesus and honour and remember his life, death and resurrection.”

Police issue Canada-wide warrants for two suspects in double homicide

Winnipeg police are asking for the public’s help in locating two suspects wanted in connection with a double homicide that occurred earlier this year in the North End.

Canada-wide warrants have been issued for 24-year-old Jermain Gage Houle for second-degree murder, and 27-year-old Aaron Junior Houle for accessory after the fact. Investigators believe they are responsible for the February shooting deaths of Sheldon Derrach Catcheway, 33, and Shanastene Irene McLeod, 35.

After tragic loss, Autumn Nelon returns with powerful solo debut 'God Won’t'

After a tragic year, losing her entire family in a plane crash, Autumn Nelon is set to grace the stage again, this time as a solo act. 

The family group were on their way to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska in July 2024 when tragedy struck.

The Nelon's plane crashed, claiming the lives of Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler and their assistant, Melodi Hodges. The pilot, Larry Haynie and his wife, Melissa, were also killed in the crash. 

Pat Barrett bringing ‘Beautiful Life Tour’ to Winnipeg next week with $20 tickets

Worship artist Pat Barrett is bringing his Beautiful Life Tour to Winnipeg on Wednesday, April 23, and all remaining tickets are only $20 (plus fees and taxes).

The Atlanta-based singer-songwriter will perform at the Burton Cummings Theatre, joined by special guest Aodhán King, known for his work with Hillsong Young & Free.

Peter B. Zacharias, 87, of Morris passed away Tuesday, April 15th at Red River Valley Lodge. He is survived by 1 daughter, 3 sons, 3 sisters, 4 brothers, and their families. He was predeceased by his wife Margaretha, 1 sister, and 1 brother. 
The funeral service for Peter B. Zacharias will be held Monday, April 21st at 2pm at Morris Emmanuel Baptist Church with burial at Morris Cemetery. 

Jets finish regular season with OT win, set to open playoffs Saturday against Blues

The Winnipeg Jets closed out their regular season with a 2-1 overtime win against the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night, and will kick off the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Saturday evening at home.

Mark Scheifele played the hero in the extra frame, scoring just 1:11 into overtime to seal the win. Neal Pionk had the other goal for Winnipeg, while Connor Hellebuyck turned aside 30 shots to earn the victory.

The Jets finish the season with a record of 56-22-4, setting a franchise-best 116 points to win the Presidents’ Trophy.
