Masters golf champion gives God all the glory

The 2024 Masters Tournament's new champion is using his win to point to Jesus. 

At 27 years old, American Scottie Scheffler took the top spot at the Masters tournament, a contest that decides the best golfer in the world. Ludvig Åberg from Sweden took the second spot, four strokes behind. 

"I believe that today's plans were already laid out many years ago, and I could do nothing to mess up those plans," Scheffler said during the Masters post-tournament conference. "I have been given a gift of this talent, and I use it for God's glory. That's pretty much it."

Brendi - Grande Prairie Christian artist releases new song for upcoming album

Grande Prairie Christian artist Brendi is back with new music. She has been putting in the work and pouring her energy into crafting songs. This year, we will see a steady stream of releases, with one song dropping almost every month, promising a string of tunes to carry us through June, July, and August. The goal? Ten tracks in total, each one a testament to dedication and a labour of love. 

The new album features her song, “Guiding my Life.” 

TobyMac Diverse City member, Gabe Patillo, dies after battle with cancer

A man best known for his time on the stage with DC Talk and Toby Mac has passed away. 

Gabriel Patillo was a multi-talented man, who by the age of ten, was dancing onstage alongside DC Talk. He also performed in music videos for Brentwood Music and worked as a theatre kid for Opryland, all before age 15. 

As he grew into an adult, and with inspiration from his father, who was also in the entertainment business, Gabriel joined TobyMac's Diverse City team, singing background vocals, choreographing, dancing and co-producing tours. 

At 89, Chuck Swindoll stepping down as lead pastor, still plans on preaching

Well-known pastor and speaker Chuck Swindoll is changing titles at his church in Texas but not hanging up his pastor 'hat' just yet. 

This week Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas, founded by Swindoll, announced that a new lead pastor will take over Swindoll's position starting May 1.

Jonathan Murphy, currently chair of pastoral ministries at Stonebriar, will take over the lead pastor position. Swindoll will continue preaching but switch his title to founding pastor.

An American Idol contestant put God front and centre during a recent performance on the popular television show. 

21-year-old Abi Carter, who comes from what she says is a very religious household of seven, performed Hillsong UNITED's 'Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)' in a special episode live from Hawaii.

Fans in the crowd raised their arms in praise, while judges were almost brought to tears.

"I am shaking for you," said guest judge Tori Kelly. "I was rooting for you so hard. I feel a performance is all about creating moments and you did exactly that."

'It's a victory for inclusion': New York cafe employs people with Down Syndrome and Autism

A new cafe opened up in New York last month that is spreading joy while employing people with Down Syndrome and Autism. 

Café Joyeux started in Paris, France in 2017 to help employ some of the most underemployed population. As of March of this year, the second Café Joyeux opened up in Manhattan. 

The café is a little different than a regular business as its number one priority isn't profit but rather inclusion. The non-profit employs people who have Down Syndrome or Autism.
