John Barlow on track for another landslide win in the Foothills

John Barlow, incumbent Conservative MP for Foothills, appears to have handily won the riding for the fifth consecutive time.

As of 10 p.m. on election night (April 28), Barlow leads with 35,200 votes, which represent nearly 77 per cent of the 45,805 total votes counted.

Barlow addressed supporters at his election night party at Highwood Gold at around 8:45 p.m.

Conservative Fraser Tolmie wins decisively in Moose Jaw–Lake Centre–Lanigan

Fraser Tolmie has been re-elected as the member of Parliament for Moose Jaw–Lake Centre–Lanigan in a decisive victory.

This will be Tolmie’s second term as an MP, and he will be joined in Ottawa by 12 other Conservative MPs from Saskatchewan.

Following his re-election, Tolmie spoke with Discover Moose Jaw and thanked the four other candidates he ran against.

“It’s a courageous step. They have a value system and a belief system that’s important to them and they want to be heard,” said Tolmie, acknowledging that campaigning can be challenging at times.

Canadians give Liberals 4th mandate; Carney wins Ottawa riding

The Canadian Press decision desk is projecting a Liberal government following a short, intense and heated federal election campaign.

As of 10:22 p.m. EDT, the Liberals had received 50 per cent of the popular vote while the Tories held 39 per cent.

Preliminary results for 43 ridings show the Liberals taking 28 seats and the Conservatives holding 21, with the Bloc Québécois holding four seats.

The last polls in British Columbia and Yukon closed at 10 p.m. EDT, following the Prairies and the other territories half an hour earlier.

Students elect Conservative minority government in nationwide vote

More than 900,000 students across Canada chose a Conservative minority government in a mock federal election held alongside the 2025 campaign.

For Airdrie-Cochrane, they elected Conservative Blake Richards with 58.48 per cent of the vote, higher than the national average for Conservatives.

Liberal Sean Secord was a distant second with 16.94 per cent, NDP candidate Sarah Zagoda captured 14.74 per cent of the vote, Libertarian David Sebine secured 5.17 per cent of the vote, and CHP candidate Christopher Bell got 4.66 per cent of the vote.

Branden Leslie wins re-election in the 2025 Federal Election for Portage-Lisgar

Incumbent Conservative candidate Branden Leslie has been declared the winner of the Portage-Lisgar riding in the 2025 Canadian Federal Election.

PortageOnline is at Leslie's headquarters, with reaction from tonight's winner coming shortly.

Conservative incumbent James Bezan has also been declared elected for Selkirk-Interlake-Eastman while incumbent Conservative Dan Mazier has been declared the winner in Riding Mountain.

Barring an early election, the next Canadian Federal Election will take place four years from now in the year 2029.

Voter Turnout: Moose Jaw - Lake Centre - Lanigan

Before polls opened this morning in Moose Jaw–Lake Centre–Lanigan, thousands of area residents had already cast ballots for one of the five candidates in the riding.

A total of 14,839 votes were cast in Moose Jaw–Lake Centre–Lanigan during the early voting period last weekend, according to data supplied by Elections Canada.

Before a single ballot was counted this evening, 23.7 per cent of the electorate had already voted.

Elections Canada says there are 62,484 registered electors in the riding, but only 42,609 votes were cast during the last election.

For the 45th time since 1867, Canadians went to the polls today to choose their local representatives in the House of Commons. 

As of 1:30 a.m. CDT, it was clear that the Liberal Party would form the next government. What still wasn't clear was whether it would be a minority or majority government. Several ridings across the country had tight races, and counts from advanced voting polls were resulting in large swings.

Lewans reacts to election results & third loss

As final results roll in from the 2025 federal election, southwest Saskatchewan will remain Conservative after a landslide that left a local independent candidate with nearly double the votes as the previous federal election she'd run in.

Maria Lewans, independent candidate for the Swift Current-Grasslands-Kindersley, managed to secure over one per cent of the overall votes after running in her third federal election.

Update: Ponoka–Didsbury federal election results: Live updates

As of 9:42 p.m., incumbent Conservative candidate Blaine Calkins was leading Ponoka—Didsbury riding with 35,001 votes (82.4 per cent) and 165 of 216 of the polling stations reporting. It is projected that Calkins will win the riding. 

Polls closed at 7:30 p.m., and preliminary results will be updated throughout the evening.

A little before 8:30 (MST), The Canadian Press decision desk projects that the Liberal Party of Canada under Mark Carney will form the next government.
