Update: Yellowhead federal election results: Live updates

As of 10:21 p.m., Conservative candidate William Stevenson was leading the Yellowhead riding with 26,974 votes (75 per cent) and 130 of 252 of the polling stations reporting. It is projected that Stevenson will win the riding. 

Polls closed at 7:30 p.m., and preliminary results will be updated throughout the evening and in the morning.

A little before 8:30 (MST), The Canadian Press decision desk projects that the Liberal Party of Canada under Mark Carney will form the next government. 

Update: Battle River–Crowfoot federal election results: Live updates

On Friday, May 2, The Canadian Press reported that the Conservative Party winner of the riding, Damien Kurek, had announced his intention to step aside to allow Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre to run in a byelection in the Battle River—Crowfoot riding.

As of 10:13 p.m., Conservative candidate Damien Kurek was leading the Battle River - Crowfoot riding with 25,211 votes (81.4 per cent) and 145 of 278 of the polling stations reporting. It is projected that Kurek will win the riding. 

Student Vote: St. Tim's students cast their ballots

Students of St. Timothy High School took to the polling stations this morning to mimic the federal election taking place today.

All 235 students had the opportunity to vote in a climate similar to what electors will experience at polling stations across Cochrane, as part of the nationwide Student Vote program, which brings democracy to life in the classroom.

Strathmore residents can vote here in the federal election

Today is election day across the country.

Millions of Canadians will be heading out to vote for their local candidates, including at the Bow River riding.

Residents in Strathmore can vote at the Strathmore Civic Centre until 7:30 p.m.

Results will follow in Alberta following the polls closing.
