Community tees off in support of STARS Air Ambulance

The Stride Credit Union Fundraising Golf Tournament made its return on Thursday, July 10, drawing dozens of golfers to the Portage Golf Club for a full day of friendly competition, all in support of STARS Air Ambulance

Hot day, big hearts 

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., golfers took to the course under hot, humid conditions, powering through the heat with cold drinks, good company, and a shared commitment to a good cause. Despite the sweltering weather, spirits stayed high throughout the day. 

Shoot to Inspire brings Seabears front office to inspire young women

Summer brings a lot more than fairs and festivals; it also brings camps and new experiences.   

President and founder of Shoot to Inspire, Peyton Kehler, says that this local basketball camp is designed to bring together the women of our community.   

The camp started as a passion project for Kehler and has continued to grow.   

Farmers honoured with lunch, live music and prizes

Local farmers were treated to a well-deserved break from the fields on July 9th from CFRY and Country 93, hosting their annual Farmer Appreciation Lunch at Island Park. 

Held at the MNP Exhibition Building, the event ran from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and brought together farm families from across the region to celebrate their hard work, resilience, and vital role in the community. 

Portage Ex Fair breaks records and delivers family fun for all ages

This past weekend, the Portage Ex Fair returned in full force with record-breaking attendance, expanded entertainment, and rave reviews from both visitors and vendors. 

Fair general manager Heather Greenlay and Paul Trimble, chair of the Gate and Midway Committee, agree that the three-day celebration delivered a strong showing despite challenges like heat and Canada Day logistics. 

St Labre 200 races into action

July is racing by as the first weekend of the month brings Go-karting to the next level.   

St Labre 200 brought Go-Karters together for a build day, and a race day featuring 100-lap heats and alumni races.   

Rob Tetrault and his team from Tetrault Wealth have been attending this event for years.   

Tetrault says that he has seen the event grow since the beginning.
