Taste of Summer

As summer comes to a close, so does the weekly KPMG Taste of Summer Charity BBQ. 

Each week throughout the season, a different local charity received support from the community event. While lunch was available for just a $2 donation, many gave much more. 

The last KPMG Taste of Summer Charity BBQ of the season was a hit, raising $2,183 for Eastman Special Olympics.   

Regional Coordinator, Cathy Wiebe, says it is wonderful to feel the support for this organization.   

“It makes me know that what I'm doing is right, that my athletes are the reason we're here, and people in the community know that. And I love that.”  

The final KPMG Taste of Summer Charity BBQ is set for Wednesday, August 27, in support of Eastman Special Olympics. 

This charity is always a special one, with athletes often stopping by to celebrate their successes with the community. 

This week’s KPMG Taste of Summer Charity BBQ was a big success, as South Eastman English and Literacy Services (SEELS) brought in $1,492 in donations. 

SEELS is a non-profit organization providing language and literacy programs to adults. The charity aims to support anyone 18 and older in reading, writing, speaking and listening skills needed for daily and working life.   

This week’s KPMG Taste of Summer Charity BBQ brought friendly faces, beautiful weather, and delicious smokies in support of Southeast Cancer Support Services.  

Southeast Cancer Support Services is a charity organization dedicated to alleviating challenges faced by cancer patients in the southeast.  

Cancer patients living in the Southeast often face more than just medical battles—the distance to treatment adds another layer of hardship. 

That’s where Southeast Cancer Support Services (SCSS) comes in, offering care and transportation for those battling cancer, every step of the way.  

Youth for Christ raised $16,485.74 at the KMPG Taste of Summer Charity Barbeque this week, supporting the youth of the community.   

YFC’s Steinbach Ministry Director, Ashley Reimer, is excited about this impact on their organization and their youth.   

“Now that's a huge number, and we're just so excited to be able to serve in this community and share with our youth.”  

This Wednesday, grabbing a hot dog from the KPMG Taste of Summer Charity BBQ will help support local youth.

All proceeds raised during the BBQ will go towards Youth For Christ (YFC) Steinbach, which says more than 500 different kids have walked through its doors since January this year.

"Our youth have wild lives at times and not always a place to share what's going on," says Ashley Reimer, ministry director with the organization.

The KPMG Taste of Summer Charity BBQ raised $1,936.08 for Headway this week, all of which is going directly into supporting the community.
