‘It takes the whole community’: Corn & Apple Festival closes after three days of making memories
Morden’s 58th Corn & Apple Festival wrapped with full streets, happy crowds, and a steady heartbeat of volunteer power. Festival chair Nathan Knight says this year’s edition “was a success” and, from the organizer’s seat, “probably the smoothest festival that I’ve seen happen since I started back in 2019.” He added that while evenings ran a touch lighter because of weather, “the daytime sure didn’t deter anybody… right up until closing on Sunday. The streets were packed. There was no parking to be found anywhere.”
135 years of the best blooms at the Miami Horticulture Show
The Miami Community Centre Hall became a showcase for the best of Manitoba’s gardens on August 21st during the Miami Horticulture Club’s 135th Show. A longstanding event in the club, this year’s show featured guest speakers, displays of the club’s junior division, and an excellent show of intergenerational passion for horticulture.

South Valley Pillow Mission has been taking donated denim and processing it alongside foam mats to create a stuffing mixture, which is used to fill pillows that are then sent to hospitals throughout Eastern Europe.
A bumper crop for the Winkler Farmers’ Market this season
The Winkler Farmers’ Market has been in full bloom this season, having moved locations to the parking lot of Central Station earlier this summer. Market organizer Matt Friesen shared that the location shift has led to more community connections and opportunities, especially through the Manitoba Community Food Currency Program, which is offered through Central Station.

A glittering goodbye to Concerts in the Park’s 2025 season
