Unspecified number of Liberal MPs set to confront Trudeau, ask him to step down

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will face down his own caucus members in a hotly anticipated meeting this morning, as several of them plan to try to convince him to step aside.

Rumours have circulated for weeks about an undisclosed number of Liberal MPs who have signed on to the effort to oust the prime minister in the hopes of improving the party's chances in the next election. 

That promises to make the regular weekly caucus meeting on Parliament Hill extra tense, as Trudeau has showed no signs of stepping down from the top job.

Sports Update - Wednesday, October 23rd

Brayden Poirier had a five-point night with four goals and an assist to lead the Carman Cougars past the Garden Valley Zodiacs 7-2 in the lone Zone 4 High School Hockey League game Tuesday. Nate Phillips added a pair of goals for the visiting Cougars while Brayden Cox had the other Carman goal. Josh Hiebert chipped in with three helpers. Mark Schefer and Rhett Peters replied for the Zodiacs.

Manitoba's Premier says he knows crimes against business are a major concern in rural Manitoba.
    
"We're listening to a lot of those concerns that are being brought forward," said Premier Kinew. "All over rural Manitoba, I think we're all familiar with business owners and property owners that are dealing with crime."

Not only did the Premier acknowledge this concern but says it's something his government is taking action on.

Pembina Valley Humane Society launches pilot Trap-Neuter-Return Program

The Pembina Valley Humane Society (PVHS) is making strides in addressing the overpopulation of stray cats in Morden with its newly launched pilot Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. Scott Wilson, Vice Chair of the PVHS Board of Directors, oversees this initiative, which aims to trap stray cats, spay or neuter them, and either return them to their original location or adopt them out through the shelter. 

More shoplifting incidents reported to Winkler Police

Winkler Police Service have been dealing with several separate shoplifting incidents since the end of September, their most recent report showing six separate incidents between September 30th to October 20th.

Staff of a local store reported a theft involving a male youth who left the store without paying for merchandise on September 30th.

Ottawa remembers reservist killed in Parliament Hill attack one decade later

Ottawa marked the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attack on Parliament Hill Tuesday, but for the family of the reservist who was killed that day the memory is still raw.

"I can't believe it's been 10 years. It felt like it was yesterday," said Ephraim Cirillo after a private family ceremony held at the National War Memorial Tuesday morning.

Man charged following assault on Morden police officer

A 29-year-old man has been charged after an altercation with Morden police officers early Sunday morning.
    
Shortly before 3:30 a.m., officers got a 9-1-1 call and say they could hear yelling in the background before the caller hung up.
    
When they arrived at the scene, officers spoke with a man who said all was well, however, police say he was shirtless and had blood on him. That's when another man came to the door and, according to officers, took a fighting stance with closed fists and began speaking aggressively to them.
    

Temperature records fall in 8 places Monday in Manitoba

Temperature records fell across Manitoba on Monday.

Danielle Desjardins with Environment Canada says much of the Prairies has been under the influence of an upper ridge for most of October and even stretches of September. This culminated Monday with record breaking weather.

Desjardins says eight different locations in Manitoba broke temperature records on Monday. They are:
