Manitoba Day of Caring: radio stations rally support for wildfire evacuees
Today, June 5th, is Manitoba Day of Caring for Wildfire Evacuees with broadcasters across the province joining together to support those displaced and evacuated due to the fires raging across parts of Manitoba.
As wildfires continue to threaten communities, 920 CFRY, Mix 96 and Country 93 will be giving Manitobans the opportunity to show their care and concern.
UPDATE: Rosser shooting suspect turns himself in to RCMP
The man accused of firing multiple gunshots into a Rosser home has turned himself in, according to Manitoba RCMP.
On June 2, 2025, Kale Johnson, 37, of Powerview-Pine Falls, surrendered to Stonewall RCMP and has since been remanded in custody.
The charges against him are extensive and include possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and discharging a firearm with intent.
Selkirk traffic stop results in drugs, weapons, and cash seizure
On May 19, at about 4:20 a.m., Selkirk RCMP conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Main Street, in Selkirk.
While the officer was speaking with those inside the vehicle, he noticed a knife and both the driver and passenger were arrested for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
A search of the vehicle and of the men was conducted and resulted in the seizure of over $4,500.00 in cash, prescription medication, other suspected drugs, and weapons.

Portage la Prairie Lions Club closes doors after 80 years
One of Portage la Prairie's longest-running volunteer groups is disbanding after 80 years of service.
Former Lions Club member Kay Humphrey says they decided to disband at the end of 2023, due to membership numbers dwindling and the members getting older. She notes that there are plenty of volunteer opportunities now, as opposed to when the Lions Club was getting off the ground.
RCMP attending accident near Southport
Portage la Prairie RCMP have been dispatched to the intersection of Centennaire Dr. and Highway 240, with reports of a head-on collision between two vehicles.
Information regarding possible injuries is currently unknown.
Emergency services are on the scene.
The RCMP has been contacted, but no further information is available.
Radio amateur talent nights return to the tune of almost $30,000 in Eriksdale
After four years, CFRY’s Radio Talent Nights returned in a big way over the weekend.
The first of four events was Saturday night in Eriksdale, as the community and surrounding areas came together to raise money to upgrade the curling rink’s ice surface and lounge.
The Eriksdale Rec Centre was full as 13 performers participated in the event which ended up being a significant shot in the arm for the project, which could cost roughly $200,000.
Dauphin RCMP looking for missing teen
On October 27, 2023, at 2:50 p.m., Dauphin RCMP received a report of a missing 16-year-old female from a residence on Main Street in Dauphin.
Keshia-Ann Brandon was last seen two hours prior when she stated she would go find a phone and make a call. She did not return home afterward.
She is described as 5’5”, 135 lbs. with brown shoulder-length hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, a grey sweater and white Nike runners.
IIU terminates Investigation into serious injury during arrest of Portage teen
A serious injury took place in Portage la Prairie when a 17-year-old male was arrested. It was reported on May 4, 2022, to the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) by the RCMP.
It was on May 3rd, 2022 just before 10 p.m. that a call was made to the RCMP in Portage that four people were bear sprayed outside of a residence in the community. RCMP Members arrived and patrolled the area where two of the involved males were located and fled the area on foot in separate directions.
