Reduced hours announced for Altona's Emergency Services Department starting July 4
Southern Health-Santé Sud says the Altona Community Medical group is facing ongoing human resource challenges that will temporarily affect Emergency Department Services at the Altona Community Memorial Health Centre.
Emergency Department Services – Reduced Summer Hours
- There will be no Emergency Department Services at the Altona Community Memorial Health Centre Monday to Thursday effective July 4, 2022 until further notice.
Morden issues Boil Water Advisory
Date and Time: June 22, 2022, 9:00 am
Location: Minnewasta Bay, Falcon Drive, Eagle Drive, Eagle Cres, Pelican Drive, Junco Drive and Buhler Drive
The City of Morden will be shutting off the water service to complete maintenance or repair in the areas mentioned above.
Distribution depressurization can compromise the safety of the water supply. All water users are asked to follow the boiling water advisory precautions below once the water service has been restored.
43-year-old woman sustains serious injuries in ATV crash, young boy physically okay
A 43-year-old female suffered serious injuries following an ATV accident Saturday evening in Reinland.
Just after 9 pm, Pembina Valley RCMP responded to a report of the collision in the village southeast of Winkler.
The RCMP's initial investigation shows that the 43-year-old woman was on the residential property when the ATV she was driving struck a fence and landed on its side.
A three-year-old male passenger did not appear to have any physical injuries but was transported to a hospital to be checked.
Friesens releases results of 2022 employee-directed giving campaign
Every year, employee-owners at Friesens Corporation have a chance to vote for their favorite charity, and the voting process determines what percentage of funds are donated to each organization. An employee-owner then presents the donation to the recipient charity.
This year, we decided to combine the media releases to better highlight the various charities and organizations that have benefited from the Employee Directed Giving Campaign over the years. Some of them are new recipients, while others have benefited on an ongoing basis from year to year.

WSD appoints new transportation supervisor, vice-principal
There has been some shifting of a pair of leadership roles within the Western School Division (WSD).
The Division announced Thursday that Adam Adamson has been hired as Transportation Supervisor.
Interim Vice Principal announced for Maple Leaf School
The Western School Division has filled the position of Vice-Principal at Maple Leaf School for the 2022/2023 school year. Carla Wiebe has been hired on an interim basis to fill the role.
Wiebe has been a Resource Teacher at Maple Leaf School for the past 3 years. Prior to that, she worked for Garden Valley School Division for 10 years and then spent 3 years teaching in Kuwait. She has taught in early years, middle years and high school, and has spent the last 6 years working in Resource.
