Current multi-family developments and current job market 'go hand-in-hand, says MSTW GM

There appear to be a number of factors steering building activity this year in the MSTW Planning District.

MSTW General Manager Glen Wieler says the number of permits issued throughout the district in the first six months of this year is down a bit compared to the first two quarters of 2021. However, the value of work completed is very similar to last year.

PV Bible Camp viewing ministry as more than a 'one week opportunity'

Putting their goals and visions into a strategic plan earlier this year, the board and the directors of the Pembina Valley Bible Camp are committed to seeing that plan through.
    
Board Chair Larry Schroeder says one of the things they're moving forward with is broadening the group of people they draw to the camp. Schroeder says they are doing that by building partnerships with local ministries in Southern Manitoba.

Like every sector, Morden-Winkler MLA Cameron Friesen says Arts, Culture, and Sports facing pressure

Morden-Winkler MLA and Manitoba Finance Minister Cameron Friesen said the provincial Tories have taken numerous significant measures to make things more affordable for Manitobans.

He said that includes things like the Education Tax rebate with average rebate cheques of nearly $600 currently in the mail and the new residential renters' tax credit.

Phase 2 underway at Winkler's Westridge Memorial Gardens

In 2019, the City of Winkler established a reserve fund to begin work on Phase 2 of Westridge Memorial Gardens.
      
Director of Planning and Engineering for the City of Winkler, Scott Toews, says they anticipate needing to move into the next phase within the next 3 to 5 years, and they wanted to make sure they are well ahead of the need.

Rainwatchers for July 26th, more showers possible this afternoon and evening

Some gardeners across the Pembina and Red River Valleys were saved watering work in their gardens today after scattered showers and thunderstorms moved through the area overnight and early this morning. There is a chance for more rain today, with Environment Canada forecasting a 40% chance of showers for this afternoon and early this evening, as well as a risk of a thunderstorm.

Committee very "motivated" to see pathway connecting Winkler and Morden completed

An engineering study for a pathway along the RM of Stanley Corridor, connecting the cities of Winkler and Morden is on its last leg until the project can go to tender.
    
The study first got underway in 2016, but then for a number of reasons things stalled out for a period of time.
