Crescent Park spray park temporarily out of commission
If you were hoping to stay cool in downtown Moose Jaw this weekend the Crescent Park spray park may not be an option.
The City announced late yesterday that a water main break has led to the temporary closure of the Crescent Park spray park. While the adjacent washrooms remain open, there is no indication as to when the spray park will be up and running at this time.
There are still some other options however, as the City has five other options for spray park fun.
They're open daily from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and can be found at the following locations:
Concerts in the Park's 30th year 'an overwhelming success, both in spirit and generosity'
Organizers say that this year’s iteration of Concerts in the Park — held annually in support of the Moose Jaw Health Foundation (MJHF) — was an overwhelming success in both ‘spirit and generosity’.
The energy and attendance were high during the season finale and MJHF CEO Kelly McElree said it was the perfect way to celebrate an important milestone in the event’s history.
Terry Fox Run celebrating 45th anniversary
Campaigns are starting to kick off as the Terry Fox Run celebrates its 45th year of raising funds for cancer research in honour of Fox’s Marathon of Hope.
More than 35 communities across Saskatchewan will be taking part in the Terry Fox Run. Moose Jaw’s event is set for Sunday, Sept. 14, at Wakamow Valley at the Skating Oval.
After a brief hiatus, the Moose Jaw Kin Club is back hosting the Terry Fox Run.
Local athletes going for medals at Canada Summer Games
A pair of local athletes will be competing for medals today at the Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, Nfld.
Moose Jaw’s Katie Rogers will be running in the women’s 1,500 metres medal heat on Friday.
In the men’s special Olympics men’s 100 metre running, Assiniboia’s Bradyn Giraudier will be competing in the medal round after finishing second in his qualifying heat earlier this week.
Saskatchewan budget takes big hit, from $12M surplus to $349M deficit
Saskatchewan's financial fortunes this year have taken a dramatic hit.
The province had budgeted a $12-million surplus this fiscal year, but a first-quarter update issued Friday announced that the modest surplus is now on track to be a $349-million deficit.
It's tying the reversal to a $172-million drop in revenues, most of it from its Crown agency, SaskPower.

UPDATE: SaskTel cellular outage fixed
UPDATE 2: As of 6:10 p.m., SaskTel says the outage affecting cellular cells and business IBC services has been fixed.
UPDATE: SaskTel gave an update as of 2:52 p.m. They are still working to resolve the problem. No estimated time of restoration has been given.
Saskatchewan residents are being advised of a province-wide SaskTel wireless cellular outage.
SaskTel says the outage is affecting all cellular voice customers and about 3,000 business voice customers. Data services and text messaging is not impacted and some cellular calls may intermittently go through.
Your Friday morning road closures, 9th Ave. NW, Montgomery and more
Traffic on 9th Avenue NW between Albert Street and Caribou Street will be disrupted today while workers conduct a hydrant replacement project.
While work is underway, both southbound lanes will be closed, with northbound traffic reduced to a single lane.
Work is set to conclude by end of day today, weather permitting.
A second hydrant replacement project is also underway on the 900 block of Montgomery Street.
In addition to the above closures, the 300 block of Grandview Street W and 200 block of Oxford Street W are closed for pipebursting today.

Team Sask's Lila Stewart struck gold again in diving, taking top place in the women’s 1m springboard event. This follows Tuesday’s gold medal in artistic and yesterday’s bronze in 3m springboard.
Team Sask heads into Day 14 of competition with 11 medals total -- 3 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze.
