Blaine McLeod projected to win Lumsden-Morse riding

The Saskatchewan Party’s Blaine McLeod has been projected by the provincial media as the winner of the Lumsden-Morse riding. 

McLeod and his wife Marlie have lived in the hamlet of Caron since 1975, and they have three children and 10 grandchildren. 

McLeod was first elected MLA for Lumsden-Morse in the 2023 by-election and has been a dairy farmer in Caronport for over 40 years, operating Caroncrest Farms Ltd. with his sons.

Polling stations have just closed for Moose Jaw and the surrounding constituencies.

Close polls mean a night to closely watch for tonight's provincial election

With polls showing the Saskatchewan Party and Saskatchewan NDP neck and neck in the provincial election, tonight's results will need to be closely watched to see who comes out on top.

For the NDP, they currently hold 14 seats, all of which are projected to be safe on election day. The NDP does also have a likelihood of grabbing an extra 13 ridings which were within a 25 point gap last election.

The Moose Jaw Centre for Arts & Culture (MJCAC, recently re-branded) hosted its first-ever craft show over the weekend, bringing visitors to browse a variety of handmade goods while checking out ‘It Takes a Village’ — a pottery art show in the MJCAC gallery. 

Halloween safety advice with MJPS

Ghouls, ghosts, zombies, and princesses will soon be visiting houses around the city. 

Jay-D Haughton, public information and strategic communication manager with the Moose Jaw Police Service, has some advice for keeping everyone safe this Halloween. 

“There are some things that we want parents and kids to keep in mind with their costumes and being out and about within the streets of Moose Jaw.”

It's election day in Saskatchewan - your last chance to cast your ballot. You have until 8 o'clock tonight.

Elections Saskatchewan will conduct their "first preliminary count" tonight with a second preliminary count happening on Wednesday with the final count and final results 12 days from now on November 9th.

The most recent poll results indicate it could be close.

Moose Jaw to cool off on Tuesday

The Moose Jaw area is expecting a high of 13 today. 

Rose Carlsen, meteorologist with Environment Canada, said the reason for the warmer temperatures has been high pressure over the eastern Prairie Provinces, but they're expecting things to cool off tomorrow. 

“There’s a system that is moving through northern Saskatchewan today – that's what’s ushering in the slightly colder air, which is why we’ve only got a high of 5 tomorrow.” 

Mayor received ceremonial ‘first poppy’ on Friday

Mayor Clive Tolley was presented with the ceremonial first poppy of the year on Friday. 

The presentation took place at 11 a.m. at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 59, with the poppy pinned by Sue Knox, poppy chair. 

“It’s a privilege, and it’s an honour to be asked by the Legion to receive the first poppy again this year,” said Tolley.
