Fire means drivers asked to stay away from areas south/southwest of Highway #54
As of 3:15 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, a fire near the Regina Beach landfill has the Lumsden RCMP detachment asking drivers to stay away from the areas south/southwest of Highway #54.
Local road closures are in place as fire departments from Regina Beach, Lumsden, and Bethune are attending to the blaze.
Drivers are asked to abide by the directions of emergency personnel.

The Moose Jaw Warriors are one win away from moving on to the Western Hockey League's Eastern Conference final.The Warriors defeated the Broncos 5-2 in Swift Current last night to take a 3-1 series lead.
Jagger Firkus had a pair of goals and three points for the Warriors while Ethan Hughes had his first WHL playoff goal.
The game was tied 2-2 after two but the Warriors scored 3 unanswered goals in the third period.
Moose Jaw will look to finish off the series on Friday night for Game 5 at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. Puck drop is 7 p.m.

‘Back to the cells!’: Man removed from court after yelling, swearing at judge
Provincial court judge David Chow ordered a Moose Jaw man back to the holding cells on April 15 following an outburst in which the man lambasted Chow for mispronouncing his name, denied having “done anything”, and refused to stand when speaking.

NDP invite press to Dr. F.H. Wigmore hospital to reiterate hyperbaric chamber concerns
The NDP held a conference in Moose Jaw, just outside of the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Hospital in Moose Jaw calling for the re-opening of the hyperbaric chamber located within the building.
The chamber was opened in 2015 following calls from the citizens of Moose Jaw and an $850,000 fundraising drive, led by Moose Jaw Firefighters Association. However, the hyperbaric chamber in Moose Jaw had been out of operation since 2021 due to limited staff available to operate the chamber and has only recently resumed partial operation.

The Moose Jaw Warriors are in Swift Current tonight, facing off against the Broncos in game 3 of their 2nd round, best-of-seven Western Hockey League playoff series, which is tied at one win apiece.
Warriors captain Denton Mateychuk scored one and set up 5 more in a 7-2 win in game 2. He says that's in the past and the focus now is on game 3.
"You've got to take at least one game in their rink. You've got to go in there and be the villain, pretty much. Their fans are going to be loud, and we're coming to win two hockey games."
Moose Jaw Premier’s Dinner coming to Moose Jaw Events Centre
The 2024 Moose Jaw Premier’s Dinner comes to the Moose Jaw Events Centre this April 25.
The event is the second of five dinners occurring across the province, with the remaining three taking place in Saskatoon, Regina, and Prince Albert.
The event starts off with a reception held at 6 p.m., with the dinner beginning at 7 p.m. and running until 10 p.m.
