Humboldt Broncos hire Brayden Klimosko as new Head Coach and GM

The Humboldt Broncos are proud to announce the hiring of Brayden Klimosko as the next Head Coach and GM, effective immediately.

Klimosko is no stranger to the roots of the community and the organization. Born and raised in Humboldt, his skates hit the ice at the Elgar Petersen Arena as a youngster and eventually played for the Broncos for three full seasons from 2005-2008 winning two SJHL Championships and one National Championship.

Coach Scott Barney is advancing to the next stage of his career

After six seasons at the helm of the Humboldt Broncos, Head Coach and GM, Scott Barney is advancing to the next stage of his career, as the Head Coach of the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Sudbury Wolves.

Barney began his Humboldt Broncos’ journey as the Assistant Coach following the Broncos bus tragedy, then was promoted to Interim Head Coach following a coaching change midway through the 2018-19 season. He went on to lead the Broncos to a 14-6-1 record to finish the season, after which then Interim tag was lifted.

Broncos need to spark home fires in series against Mustangs

The Humboldt Broncos had a third period lead but couldn’t contain the top line of Melfort and dropped to 0-2 in the SJHL’s Semi Final Series with a 4-3 loss on Friday night.

Once again, it was Melfort’s high-end threats who proved to be the difference makers in the game. Minus an empty net goal in Game 1, outside of their top line, and their first pairing of defensemen, no other player has scored against Ben Motew in the first two games of the series.

Broncos back on track with a pair of wins against Melville

The new month started off on the right path for the Humboldt Broncos as they locked up two points against the Millionaires in a 5-2 victory on the road Friday night.

The victory was built through a hard fought 60-minute effort with strong defensive awareness and scoring from five different players. The victory also started off the month of February string, after a Jekyll and Hyde January where the Broncos won three of their first four games, before losing five of the subsequent six.

Broncos drop a pair to Bruins on southeast swing

It was not the performance the Broncos were hoping for in the midst of their 3-game road trip.

After defeating the Weyburn Red Wings on Thursday night in a valiant 60-minute effort, it was a totally different looking team as the Humboldt Broncos fell rather flat throughout the majority of the game on Friday, dropping a 4-1 defeat to the Estevan Bruins.

The opening frame was competitive.
