Investigation finds past Shaunavon mayor violated ethics
An independent investigation has found the former mayor of Shaunavon did commit Code of Ethics violations.
Five complaints had been made against former Shaunavon mayor Kyle Bennett. Of those, three have been substantiated, one is unclear, and one has been found unsubstantiated.
Namely, the investigation commissioned by town council found the complaint of Bennett making inappropriate comments during the Region Municipal Governance Committee meeting on June 25, 2024, to be true.

Saskatchewan RCMP are warning southwest Saskatchewan residents about a recent series of frauds.
Back on Sept. 13, 2024, Carlyle RCMP received a report of a fraud in which motorists approached another motorist near Highway #13, asking for gas money. They then proceeded to ask for more money, offering a gold ring in exchange for assistance.
Similarly, Shaunavon RCMP responded to the exact same scenario being called in on Sept. 16, 2024. A motorist asks another for gas money, then gives the ring in exchange for further monetary aid.

BASF brings the brisket to Abbey celebration
The Village of Abbey was gathered under the big tent to celebrate a recent victory.
The BASF Growing Home competition saw communities competing to win $25,000 to put towards a local initiative.
When Abbey won this contest back in May, it was confirmed that the money would be going towards the local curling rink for a rebuild of the ice plant.
BASF came to Abbey this past Saturday and held a free supper with music and games for families before the beer gardens started up later in the evening.

Details on Cypress Hills crash off one of the lookout points
Maple Creek RCMP has released details on an incident that took place at Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park.
Shortly after 5 p.m., officers responded to a call at the park that a vehicle had driven off a lookout point.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, was an adult male. He reported non-life-threatening injuries to police.
This incident is still under investigation and is continuing at this time.
Southwest Sask. officials converge to discuss border crossing rumours
A meeting was held today in Swift Current regarding rumours surrounding Canada - U.S. border crossings in the region.
Southwest Saskatchewan representatives from various RMs, Towns, and the City of Swift Current were present, along with MLA for Cypress Hills Doug Steele and the Cypress Hills - Grasslands MP, Jeremy Patzer.
They were discussing the recent rumours of alleged hours of operations reductions, and possibly even closures, at the various border crossings in southwest Saskatchewan.
