Niverville resident pleads guilty to Wildlife Act violations

Manitoba Natural Resources and Northern Development have just released details on an investigation and conviction of a Niverville resident.

In 2019, Steinbach conservation officers began an investigation into illegal activities trafficking furs.

On June 28, 2022, the individual from Niverville pleaded guilty to six counts of violating the Wildlife Act and received a two-year hunting suspension, as well as $3,700 in fines and a $7,000 restitution order.

Second degree murder charges laid in Steinbach homicide investigation

RCMP have now laid charges after being called on Friday to a home in Steinbach where they found the body of a 69-year-old man. 

Police says Savannah Dueck is the 34-year-old woman who was taken into custody on Friday. She has now been charged with Second Degree Murder. 

Dueck will appear in Winnipeg court on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. 

Police investigating Steinbach murder, woman arrested

On July 29, 2022, at approximately 3:00 pm, Steinbach RCMP received a report of a deceased male inside a residence on Whitby Crescent in Steinbach.

Officers responded immediately and located the 69-year-old male. His death has been determined to be a homicide. 

A 34-year-old female was in the residence when officers arrived. She was arrested for the homicide and remains in police custody.

The Pioneer Days Parade made its return to a crowded Main Street in Steinbach.

Thousands of onlookers gathered on sidewalks to watch floats go by, catch candy and enjoy a beautiful sunny Friday morning.

RCMP nab Highway 23 speeder going 211 km/hr

In effort to discourage speeding, Manitoba RCMP released details of a July 15 incident.

On that Friday night at 9:15 pm, an RCMP officer was driving east on Highway 23 and observed a vehicle travelling westbound going 185km/hr. The officer pulled onto the shoulder to turn around, and the vehicle sped past the police vehicle, going 211 km/hr.
