Next year, Academy of Learning Career College will celebrate its 30th anniversary of providing post-secondary education in southeast Manitoba. It’s a longevity that owes much to the institution’s reputation for graduating qualified individuals into the workforce of Steinbach and the surrounding area. 

It also demonstrates a willingness to adapt to the needs of both students and employers while embracing agility and technology. 

It’s been less than a month, and already CJ’s Hangout is drawing a destructive crowd… in the very best way!  

Southeastern Manitoba’s only axe-throwing and rage room is now open for business. Owned and managed by Jennie and Colin Williams, this enterprising couple has turned the former D&G Archery Range into a brand new attraction for those looking to gather with friends, try something new, or relieve a little stress.  

Leafing through the new Fall Leisure Guide from Niverville Recreation & Wellness, one can’t help but notice how all-encompassing the organization is.  

“We’re the town’s connection to things that are sports, fitness, and wellness related,” says Teresa Mistelbacher, Camps and Recreation Programmer for the Town of Niverville. “We offer a lot of classes, workshops, programs, and terrific ways to get integrated into the community.”

The Grunthal Motocross (GMX) Race Weekend is quickly approaching, an event the team, riders, and fans are all highly anticipating. 

The races start at 8:30am on Sunday, August 25 at the Grunthal Motocross track, with open practice for the riders on Saturday, August 24 from 10 to 3. 

The races will be divided into two rounds – one in the morning and one in the afternoon – with riders from various classes hitting the track. A 1-hour intermission will take place around noon, where spectators can grab a meal from the two food trucks on site. 

The laces are almost tied, the sticks are almost taped and the 2024-25 hockey season is almost here. There’s a lot of excitement, and many families have already completed registration – which is open – for kids looking forward to playing minor hockey in Steinbach.

Every August Long Weekend, the Mennonite Heritage Village (MHV) in Steinbach hosts Pioneer Days – an event filled with food, demonstrations, and family fun for everyone. And this year is no exception!

With 2024 marking the 150th anniversary of Mennonite’s arrival in Manitoba, for this year’s Pioneer Days, the MHV is taking a closer look at this significant event.  

Between now and the end of August, Firewood2Go is inviting new and existing customers to cut costs on high-quality fuel wood. Cords of 8’ pine logs are currently on sale for $150 – a price that also includes delivery (12 cord minimum).

With firewood season typically heating up by mid-August, Firewood2Go general Manager Sjoerd Huese is encouraging folks to reserve their cords before there’s a waiting list.
