Gifts of Light enhance local health care and brighten Steinbach’s hospital grounds

People are already taking action to ensure the hospital grounds are as festive as ever, this December.

Linda Peters is Executive Director with the Bethesda Foundation. She says that generous community members are already calling in to sponsor trees for this year’s Gifts of Light fundraising campaign.

“It warms my heart to know people are thinking about the Bethesda Foundation, thinking about supporting health care in our community, and are thinking about honoring loved ones by sponsoring a tree.”

When people see the big SWEATY TRAINING & CONDITIONING sign, they may wonder, how exactly are people getting sweaty, and why are they so proud of it?

Trainer Jeff Eidse explains that theirs is not a typical gym-type name… because they’re not a typical gym.

“We’re a private training centre with a focus on achieving high performance in every aspect of life, whether it be athletics or everyday functionality. So we work with elite athletes, young up-and-coming athletes, as well as people recovering from injury.”

Growing outcomes in watersheds “a wonderful opportunity for farmers to tap into”

Water is life – and water stewardship is a critical part of ensuring Manitoba is sustainable for future generations.

“Healthier watersheds mean we have clean drinking water, productive fisheries, really great outdoor recreation,” says Jennifer Corvino, Project Manager at Redboine Watershed District. “All of that helps support us in our economy, our environment, and our quality of life.”

Steinbach Sobeys excited to serve community through Fall Food Drive

With Thanksgiving approaching, and cooler weather and Christmas holidays following not long after, Sobeys of Steinbach is focussing on what it can do to serve disadvantaged people in southeast Manitoba.

“It’s a great event to help out the community,” says Franchise Owner Lee Kotowicz, referencing the grocery store’s annual Fall Food Drive, this October 5th and 6th. “It’s for a great cause, especially as it comes around Thanksgiving and as we get into fall and winter.”

Meanwhile, PC Candidate Wayne Ewasko also took victory in the La du Bonnet riding, and Josh Guenter took victory for the Progressive Conservatives in the Borderland riding.

Free lunch and storewide sales part of Ungers Feed and Meats community celebration

What do you get when you combine more than a dozen antique tractors, a fall pumpkin display, and a free lunch from an artisanal meat supplier? According to Kallyn Mehling of Ungers, an opportunity to bring the community together, and thank loyal customers. 

On Saturday, September 23, Ungers will be holding its Fall Sale. The Mitchell, Manitoba business held a similar event last fall and is once again excited to celebrate its friends and supporters.
