There is excitement in the halls at Steinbach Christian School these days, created by the growing K-12 institution’s focus on providing new opportunities and living with purpose.

“More than 90% of our high school students are involved in a co-curricular activity,” says Thor Barkman, SCS principal. “By giving students opportunities to be involved, they can start to understand who they are and what they’re good at.”

Since launching iBEAUTY this past September, Tina has been helping Southeast Manitoba women find their inner royalty.

“In my heart, I think every woman deserves to be a queen or princess,” she says. “Life is for enjoying.”

Relatively new to Steinbach after moving to Canada from China, Tina is excited to spread the word about iBEAUTY, which has a storefront at 98 Brandt St. – near the corner with Reimer Ave W. Her shop carries items made in Canada and the United States, but most of its inventory comes from overseas.

They’re a cleaning company. But they don’t sell sparkling kitchen floors and lemon-fresh bathrooms- that’s amateur territory. By far, Cindy-rella’s top seller is the deep breath released when you open the door to a clean space after a long day.

Based in Steinbach, but reaching as far as Altona and Morris, Cindy-rella’s Cleaning Company specializes in residential cleaning. So what sets them apart?

“We really care. It’s more than just cleaning your house- we love to be able to help you as an individual.”

Nancy Limneos is always open to trying new things.

Since taking ownership of Hotel La Broquerie, which includes Lab Country Restaurant and Habs Bar, Limneos has introduced new menu items, offered free pool, installed a golf simulator and positioned the business at the heart of the Southeast Manitoba community. And she’s been rewarded with a customer base that continues to grow.

Whether we like it or not, this weekend our clocks will spring forward, shifting from 2:00 AM to 3:00 AM Sunday morning. Kudos to those of you who will be celebrating that spring forward in real time, but the rest of us will be mourning a lost hour of sleep.  

Here are some suggestions on what you can do to prepare in advance and deal with the dreaded loss of an hour of sleep, without losing your mind in the process. 

On March 1st, the beloved Muscle Matters name will be no more. But fans of the spa-like wellness studio can rest assured knowing they’re still here – with a beautiful new look and name! 

Owner Lindsay Penner explains, “The name Muscle Matters was great when we were solely a massage therapy business. But we’ve grown and by now there are just as many people on the esthetic side as there are in massage. I realized our name needed to grow too. Our new name, Embody Wellness Studio and Clinic, pulls it all together.” 

This is it- the reason you held onto your gogo boots for decades. The opportunity you’ve been waiting for to pull out your beloved tasseled vest. And yes, you CAN still rock that flowy floral dress you’ve had since before the kids were born.  

At the very least, it’s a chance to wear huge sunglasses indoors.

18 months and still growing!

Pharmasave is now looking to hire a full-time or part-time Pharmacist and a full-time Pharmacy Assistant. Owner Scott Penner says that Pharmasave in Steinbach opened in September 2022, and currently employs less than a half-dozen employees. Business has been booming for 18 months now, which means the staff has to grow to keep up.
