Southern Manitoba is in for an extended stretch of warm and sunny weather, with temperatures on the rise and little chance of rain in the forecast.
Chris Stammers, meteorologist with Environment Canada, says the region has been enjoying comfortable conditions in the low to mid 20s, but that will change as we move further into the week.
Man recovering after shooting near Mountain Avenue and Salter Street
A 39-year-old man is recovering after being shot at Saturday afternoon.
The incidents happened shortly after 3 p.m. near Mountain Avenue and Salter Street.
When officers arrived, they located a 39-year-old man suffering from a serious upper body injury consistent with being shot.
He was transported to hospital in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable.
No other injuries were reported.
The intersection was closed for hours while police investigated.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
Musica Singers, Polycoro team up for Filipino choral concert
The choral music of Filipino composers will take centre stage this weekend at the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Winnipeg’s West End. Nonetheless, the possibility of escalating job action could continue to scare off customers who pulled their shipments over the past couple of weeks, draining more business from the cash-strapped organization.

Hundreds of government job losses planned at the CRA, ESDC
Top officials at the Canada Revenue Agency say mounting job cuts will impact how the agency is able to deliver services.
Commissioner Bob Hamilton and deputy commissioner Jean-François Fortin said in a message to staff Thursday that up to 280 employees will lose their jobs at the agency.
The agency has been examining its operating budget for more than two years to meet a demand from the government to find savings.
Spray pads open in Winnipeg today
With temperatures rising, the City of Winnipeg is helping residents cool off by opening spray pads today, May 24.
Most spray pads are open every day of the week until September 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. To see a full list of locations, click here.
Winnipeggers will have to wait a little longer for outdoor pools to open, which is set for Friday, June 20, with the exception of Fort Garry Lions. Unheated pools and Fort Garry Lions are expected to open one week later, on June 27.
'Under a microscope': Cottagers call for wildfire management plans after fatal fires
Cottage owners and disaster prevention experts in Manitoba are urging governments to develop comprehensive wildfire management plans after a pair of devastating wildfires.
Close to 1,000 people were forced from their homes last week as a wildfire near the Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet, spurred by dry, hot and windy conditions, burned nearby.
The quick-moving fire, which is currently being held, destroyed 28 homes and cottages and left two people dead.
WPS say no foul play was involved after body found at recycling depot
The Winnipeg Police Service say no foul play was involved after a body was found at a Winnipeg recycling depot Thursday morning.
On May 22, WPS received reports that a body was found in a Symington Yards recycling depot. Following the investigation, the findings have determined that no foul play was involved.
After an autopsy was conducted, it is believed that the deceased went into the bin, looking for shelter.
Smoke fills the sky near McFadyen Park
On Friday afternoon, smoke filled the sky at a Downtown park.
Near the River Walk by McFadyen Park, thick smoke could be seen.
The cause of the smoke fire remains unknown.
There is no word of any injuries.
Due to the fire, traffic at Carlton Street and Assiniboine Avenue is reduced to one way. Motorists are encouraged to plan an alternate route.
