Members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and their allies marched down the streets of Steinbach for the 2023 Steinbach Pride March.
Chris Plett, Tammie Martens and Charli Champagne of the Steinbach Pride Board had many people join them in the festivities at the K.R. Barkman Park on Sunday afternoon.
In addition to the march, there was live entertainment, guest speakers sharing their experiences and even dinosaurs.
Third annual Southeast Truck Show gathers community for good causes
Semis, raffles, face painting, live music and good causes: that is what the Southeast Truck Show offers.
Many community members gathered in Steinbach to experience semi-truck land on Saturday. The first Southeast Truck Show was held in 2019, making this year the third annual show.
However, Organizer Bill Schroeder, who is grateful for the turnout, says it’s about more than just the trucks.

Residents reminded of street closures for Steinbach Pride March on Sunday
The Steinbach Pride March will take to the streets Sunday afternoon and drivers are asked to be mindful of the related street closures.
Tammie Martens and Chris Plett of the Steinbach Pride Board are excited for another year of the Pride March.
“We are actually able to walk on the street again this year. So, we'll be shutting down the one side of Main St. and we're going to head on down to Reimer. Once we get to Reimer, we'll head over to Elmdale and then back up through to K.R. Barkman Park, just past where, sadly, the arena used to be,” Plett explains.
Over 200 young softball players in action at Mitchell this weekend
If hockey and lacrosse are Canada's sports, then Mitchell claims softball.
From today, Friday, June 23, until Sunday, June 25, Mitchell will host over 200 athletes ranging from U9 to U15 at their diamonds for a year-end softball tournament.
South East Softball Board Member Dawn Oude Voshaar says the game has “grown huge this year.” She adds at the U9 level, over 100 girls are playing.

"Best fans in Manitoba": Prairie Basketball League host packed 2023 All-Star Weekend
Basketball fans across southeast Manitoba and Winnipeg gathered in Steinbach for hoops, music, entertainment and community last Saturday.
Prairie Basketball League (PBL) held their first All-Star Weekend at Steinbach Regional Secondary School.
League Commissioner Abram Razon is grateful for the turnout.
“It turned out to be pretty much exactly what we'd hoped for. Packed gym, a lot of people, not just from the community, but mainly from Winnipeg as well since we had some visiting teams from there,” Razon explains.
