O'Driscoll wants to bring accountability to parliament, gov't institutions

Caroline O'Driscoll has over 20 years of advocacy experience as a teacher and lawyer. She has engaged with various levels of government and their institutions and has first-hand experience in successfully dealing with their shortcomings and systemic issues.

The Cochrane area resident wants to bring that experience and expertise to the table for the Banff-Airdrie constituency as an independent candidate. She strongly believes you don't need to be part of a party to address pressing issues in the riding.

NDP Janine Seymour and Jagmeet Singh visit Neskantaga First Nation

The campaign trail continued for Kenora NDP candidate Janine Seymour earlier this week as she was joined by NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh for a very impactful visit to the Neskantaga First Nation.

This is the second time that Singh has visited the Kenora riding during this short 2021 Federal Election.

“He came here initially to accept the tobacco and our protocols are it’s not just words there’s action behind it so he actually physically took the tobacco from hand to hand and agreed to spend good time with our people, and he did honour that,” said Seymour

Aidan Blum fed up with major parties short-sighted approaches

The short-sighted models of the major national political parties have led Aidan Blum to seek a better way to govern our nation and prepare it for the future.

Admittedly a bit of a political junkie since a young age, Blum, 24, says he's disillusioned by how politics has changed for the worse and is personally at odds with our political system.

"I ran because I wanted to be the change that I was hoping to see in past elections. The main reason I'm running is to see if I can be a leader for that change instead of waiting around for it to happen."

"We won’t tolerate this," Melillo on sign vandalism

Eric Melillo’s campaign office played witness to an act of vandalism and harassment on Tuesday afternoon.

As per a social media post, Melillo stated that someone hurled a slashed Conservative sign at his constituency office window.

“More than anything I want the staff at my constituency office to feel safe. They do important non-partisan work to serve everyone across the region. It’s quite unfortunate that the incident happened. That’s why we took to Facebook to share it with people, and ensure that people understand we won’t tolerate this kind of behavior,” said Melillo

Masks contentious at Canmore forum, just a minor issue in Cochrane

What looked to become a second standoff over face masks cooled at last night's federal election forum for the Cochrane area.

PPC candidate Nadine Wellwood and independents Derek Sloan and Ron Voss waited in front of the church, with some supporters, until Wellwood's medical exemption letter was accepted by forum organizers.

Voss declined to participate after his wife's exemption letter was not accepted. About 20 others remained outside because they refused to wear a mask, a requirement for entry.
