Manitoba Agriculture warns of poor water quality risk for livestock during dry summer

Manitoba livestock producers are being advised to closely monitor water quality for their animals as dry summer conditions can concentrate harmful substances in watering sources.

The farmland market in Saskatchewan may be tilting toward the buyer.

It’s not there yet because sellers still have the upper hand, but real estate agents in the province say more land may soon come up for sale, thus tipping the scales in favour of buyers.

As of August 2025, 265 farmland properties were posted on the MLS system in Saskatchewan. That’s down drastically from 2020, when the number of farms for sale was close to 500.

It's game week for the Kindersley Jr. Klippers.

Players arrived in Kindersley last week for the team's annual golf tournament, as the offseason officially came to an end this past weekend with hopefuls hitting the ice for camp.  Now the team is practicing before hitting the road to Drumheller for a game on Friday, before going to Lloydminster on holiday Monday.

Skill skates took place all last week until Friday at 5:30 when main camp hit the ice to kick off three days of scrimmages.

Unity RCMP say a man is dead following a single-vehicle rollover west of Unity on Saturday afternoon.

Officers were called around 3 p.m. to the intersection of Highway 14 and Highway 675, where the vehicle had left the road and rolled. The driver, an adult man from British Columbia, was declared dead at the scene by paramedics. His family has been notified.

The Town of Biggar is urging residents to come forward with information after vandals targeted local recreational facilities early Sunday evening.

Tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts in the community were damaged, prompting a social media statement from the town condemning the actions. “This type of behavior is unacceptable and shows a complete lack of respect for our community,” the town said Monday.

Although summer is drawing to an end and extreme heat in the southwest has started to subside, mosquitoes haven't yet.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is advising southwest residents about a type of mosquito present at this time of the year that can carry the West Nile Virus.

SaskEnergy says residents south of Rosetown may notice a large flame early next week as the Crown corporation carries out maintenance on its natural gas system.

The utility will conduct controlled natural gas flaring at a block valve site about 18 kilometres south of Rosetown, west of Highway 4, on Tuesday morning. The work is scheduled between 6 and 9 a.m., though SaskEnergy says timing could shift depending on operating requirements.

The Canada Revenue Agency has offered contract extensions to around 850 call centre employees as their union sounds the alarm over staffing levels. 

CRA spokesperson Etienne Biram says the workers, whose contracts were set to expire in September, were contacted about the decision last week.

The federal union representing workers at the tax agency recently launched an online campaign denouncing staffing cuts.
