Possible decrease for SaskEnergy customers' bills on the horizon

Folks might be feeling a bit of relief in their monthly bills come later this year. 

SaskEnergy is applying to the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel (SRRP) today for a pair of adjustments. 

According to a provincial release, the proposals are for a 22.1 per cent decrease in the commodity rate (dropping from $4.20 to $3.30 per gigajoule), as well as a five per cent increase in the delivery service rate. 

May long weekend substance ban lifted after 17 years

Folks spending their May long weekend at a provincial park will be able to consume alcohol and cannabis at their campsites for the first time in almost two decades. 

The Saskatchewan government announced yesterday that they are lifting the ban that took effect back in 2006. 

Phil Pearson, executive director of Park Operations, said this means that the substances are officially permitted year-round. 

Regional Park Pass lending program returns

Over the next four months, having a library card can get folks into any regional park across Saskatchewan--free of charge. 

The Saskatchewan Recreation and Parks Association (SPRA), Saskatchewan Regional Parks Association (SRPA) and the Saskatchewan Library Association (SLA) are partnering together once again for the Regional Park Pass Lending Program. 

Access your health records anywhere, anytime

Folks with a MySaskHealthRecord account can now officially access their medical records through their phones with ease. 

EHealth Saskatchewan launched their new mobile app to the public last Wednesday, after a year in the works.  

Director of Citizen and Partnership Programs, Dana Dolney, said work started on developing the app in 2022. 

More addictions treatment spaces, for prevention and intervention

New virtual treatment spaces for addictions are coming to the province, focused on accessibility for remote communities and individuals with busy lives.  

Mental Health and Addictions Minister Everett Hindley announced last week that 36 outpatient treatment spaces through EHN Canada will begin coming online later this spring.  

Mask mandate lifted in SHA healthcare facilities

Wearing a mask is officially optional in healthcare facilities operated by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA).

The big change was announced yesterday from the provincial government and SHA, backed by the support of not only the public, but healthcare officials as well. 

Minister of Rural and Remote Health, Everett Hindley, shared some details on the policy that took effect immediately following its announcement. 

Sask Distance Learning hiring up to 90 new positions in Saskatchewan

The new Saskatchewan Distance Learning Corporation (Sask DLC) is officially recruiting staff to fill roles across the province.  

Looking to employ approximately 150 educators, the Sask DLC stated that about 60 teachers are to be transferred from the Sun West School Division, with 90 new positions available. 

Nestlé recalls baby formula for possible contamination

A baby formula sold across Canada has been recalled for possible bacteria contamination. 

Nestlé issued a voluntary recall for its Good Start Soothe infant formula on Saturday, over concern about Cronobacter sakazakii potentially being present. 

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation and is verifying that products are removed from the marketplace.
