Southeast moves out of record-breaking cold pattern as warnings rescinded
Environment Canada is taking a look back at the last system which plunged the southeast into record lows.
The system is headed out of Canada with the extreme cold warning which was placed on the area over a week ago finally being lifted.
Andy Yun, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says that southeast communities had a lot of records broken over the last while.
Southeast College bringing Indigenous equity seats to programs next school year
The Southeast College is starting a new program aimed at Indigenous action, which is set to start in the fall. They'll be putting forward Indigenous equity seats in full-time post-secondary programs.

That's how long the SJHL's Notre Dame Hounds have been in operation out of Wilcox, Saskatchewan. The team boasts a long dynasty of wins, losses, championship runs and history that's set to finish at the end of the regular season. This week, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Board of Governors approved the relocation of the franchise to Warman, SK starting in the fall.
Premier going back to the U.S. to talk trade and urge against tariffs
Saskatchewan’s Premier recently got back from trips to Washington D.C. and to Mexico where he was advocating for no tariffs in the U.S. and continued trade with Mexico and looking ahead to the re-negotiation of the U.S. – Mexico – Canada Trade Agreement. Scott Moe says although the Saskatchewan team didn’t speak directly with U.S. President Donald Trump, they were heard by people who have his ear and have been working with him a long time. He feels the discussions were effective, but he realizes one trip is not enough when advocating for tariffs that could come into effect next Month.
EPS details weekend incidents including sextortion investigation, vehicle collisions, and more
The weekend was chilly but that didn't stop a number of calls for service for the EPS over a couple of days.
On Saturday, Police started by responding to a false alarm at a local restaurant, with the building later found to be secured.
Then EPS members conducted an investigation that is still ongoing into an attempted "sextortion", in which an individual posts explicit photos of themselves online and is now being asked for money not to publicly post them.
Crashed Delta plane cleared from Toronto airport runway
The wreck of a crashed Delta Air Lines jet has been cleared from a runway at Toronto's Pearson International Airport.
The airline says removing the wreckage took several hours on Wednesday.
Delta says it could be weeks before bags from the plane are returned to their owners because of the inspection and cleaning process.
The airline has offered US$30,000 in compensation to passengers who were on the plane, saying the money "has no strings attached."
All 76 passengers and four crew members survived when Delta Flight 4819 crash landed at Pearson on Monday.
New poll says 27% of Canadians view the United States as an 'enemy' country
A new poll suggests that more than a quarter of Canadians — 27 per cent — now see the United States as an "enemy" country, while another 30 per cent still say they consider the U.S. an ally.
Another 27 per cent of respondents to the Leger survey said they consider the United States to be a "neutral" country.
The poll comes as U.S. President Donald Trump threatens to impose economically devastating tariffs on Canada and has repeatedly pushed the idea that Canada should become a U.S. state.

Suspects arrested, charged in quadruple homicide on Carry the Kettle
The RCMP announced Wednesday afternoon two suspects have been arrested in connection with the four homicides on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation on February 4th.
The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested 18-year-old Darrius Racette in Yorkton on February 18th. He has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder in relation to the deaths of Tracey Hotomani, Sheldon Quewezance, Shauna Fay, and Terry Jack.
