MPs, diplomats and political staff gathered around the parliamentary precinct to anxiously take in preliminary results of a U.S. presidential election that they all agreed would have an enormous impact on Canada and the world.
"There's a lot of nervous energy in the room tonight," said Gary Keller, who was chief of staff to John Baird, the former Conservative foreign minister.
"This one has so much potential impact on our economy, our society."

A new butcher's shop is looking to make sure the rural southeast areas still have access to meat cutting and packing as it takes up the slack from another operation.
The Southeast Butcher's Block Cooperative recently held the grand opening of its location in Alameda, inviting in the community and offering door prizes.

Estevan Police seek truck driver in pedestrian hit-and-run incident
The Estevan Police Service responded to several incidents on Nov. 4, including a collision involving a pedestrian.
Police received a report of a truck that collided with a woman who was walking her bike. The driver stopped to check on the woman before leaving the scene. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries and her bike was damaged. Police believe a language barrier may have prevented an exchange of information and are asking the driver to contact them. Anyone with information, or who witnessed the collision, is asked to call the Estevan Police Service at 306-635-4767.

Estevan residents are invited to participate in the upcoming Municipal All Candidates Forum, organized by the Estevan Chamber of Commerce, taking place tomorrow night at the Royal Canadian Legion at 7 p.m. This event presents a valuable opportunity for voters to engage directly with candidates vying for municipal office.

While there is never a dull moment here in the 'Land of Living Skies', the honking sounds at this time of year have more people looking up, as Geese are migrating south for winter. With thousands gathered recently in the area, we asked Katherine Conkin, the Provincial Game Bird Biologist with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment just how far these birds will travel, and how they can track them throughout their journey.
She said post-harvest fields like the ones in our area have plenty of available food, such as grain and grubs, for Snow Geese and Ross's Geese.
