Saskatchewan Party holds majority after election, but with smaller margin

After months of campaigning and 28 days after the writ was dropped, the results of the 2024 Saskatchewan provincial election are in.  

The Saskatchewan Party will be returning to government with a slightly smaller mandate. When the counting was done Monday night, they were leading in 35 of the 61 seats and captured just slightly more than half of the popular vote. The 35 seats are the fewest captured by the Saskatchewan Party since the 2003 election when they won 28.  

Provincial election: Incumbent Lori Carr retains Estevan-Big Muddy riding

UPDATE 10:40 p.m.: With 26 of 29 polls reported, incumbent Lori Carr's gap has widened by about 3000 votes. She now leads the Estevan-Big Muddy with 3624 votes. Meanwhile, NDP's Phil Smith currently sits at 622 votes. Buffalo Party's Phil Zajac holds 529 votes.

Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins go pointless in weekend of close games

The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins had their points streak ended over the weekend after a pair of close losses were handed out.

The Bruins were unable to beat the Melfort Mustangs at home on Friday, losing 4-3. Then they were on the road and faced off against the Melville Millionaires on Saturday, also losing that game 4-3.

Head Coach Jason Tatarnic says both games saw some good effort from the Bruins.
