The Brandon Wheat Kings dropped a 4-1 decision to the Everett Silvertips Tuesday night at Westoba Place. Brandon head coach and general manager Marty Murray will join Clayton Dreger on the Wheat Kings Report which airs Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m. on CJRB Radio 1220.

Peter Giesbrecht, 91, of Winnipeg formerly of Gretna, passed away Wednesday, October 2nd at Winnipeg. He is survived by his loving wife Anne of 71 years; son Brian (Almuth) and children Heather and Joel; son Rod (Viola) and children Amanda and Jessica; daughter Sharon (Daryll) and children Nathan, Jillian, and Carlie. He is further survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and two sisters.

Darren Keith Orchyk, 53, of Mitchell passed away Wednesday, October 2nd at Bethesda Regional Health Centre. He is survived by his wife Dianne, 3 sons, 2 stepchildren, his father Stan, mother-in-law Susan Dueck, 2 siblings, and their families. He was predeceased by his mother Margaret Orchyk.  
A private celebration of life for Darren Keith Orchyk will take place.

Henriette “Hattie” Wieler, 92, of Steinbach passed away Monday, October 7th at her residence. She is survived by 4 daughters and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Jake and 1 son. 
The funeral service for Henriette “Hattie” Wieler will be held Sunday, October 20th at 2pm at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach with burial prior to the service at Grunthal Cemetery. 
A come and go viewing will be held Saturday, October 19th from 7 to 8pm.

Antonion Tony Sr. Cianflone, 74, of Altona formerly of Letellier, passed away Monday, October 7th at Altona Memorial Health Centre. He is survived by his wife Lise, 2 sons, and their families.  
The celebration of life for Antonion Tony Sr. Cianflone will be held Saturday, 11am at Letellier Community Centre with ash interment at Letellier Cemetery. 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boundary Trails Health Centre Dialysis Unit.

Abe Martens, 78, of Steinbach passed away Tuesday, October 8th at his residence. He is survived by his wife Mary, 2 daughters, 2 sons, and their families.  
A memorial service for Abe Martens will be held Tuesday, October 15th at 11am at Southland Church with ash interment at a later date.

The Provincial High School Cross Country Championships take place today in Clearwater hosted by Prairie Mountain High School. 1,100 runners are expected to compete in the junior varsity and varsity divisions. Zone 9 athletes attending the provincials include runners from Boissevain School and Killarney Collegiate. 

The Brandon Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the Brandon Business Achievement Awards, where leaders in the world of business are recognized for their achievement and contributions to the community of Brandon.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre was not allowed to speak in the House of Commons Tuesday as his public feud with Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly spilled into a second day.

House Speaker Greg Fergus delivered the penalty to Poilievre in the morning, a day after he asked the leader of the opposition to withdraw a remark accusing Joly of pandering to supporters of the terrorist organization Hamas.

The Virden Royal Purple has partnered with Valleyview Co-op to raise funds and awareness for those fleeing domestic violence by collecting toiletries and donations this Friday, (October 11th) at the Valleyview C-Store in Virden from 11 am to 6 pm.

"We had wanted an opportunity to meet the public so that the public could be informed about brain injury awareness and intervention, and what we are doing in the community to help those survivors," shares secretary of the local Virden chapter of the Royal Purple.  Bayliss is also Vice President of the National Canadian Royal Purple.
