Health care support workers reach tentative deal, strike postponed

A strike that would have seen thousands of health care support workers walk off the job Tuesday morning has been postponed.

At 4:25 Tuesday morning, the CUPE and MGEU bargaining teams reached a tentative deal which CUPE says will see significant improvements. The unions say they will contact union members with details of the agreement and when they can vote.

Both unions say they will be arranging information sessions over the next number of days leading up to the vote. Both CUPE and MGEU are recommending acceptance of the tentative agreement.

Scam of the Week - the Shopping List Swindle

The Golden West IT Team is warning us of another scam that's hot on the trail to dupe folks out of their hard earned money:

Walmart’s Lists feature allows you to create an online shopping list and share it with others. In this week's scam, cybercriminals are using Lists and malicious Google ads to steal your personal information and money. This scam begins when you search for Walmart’s customer service page on Google.

You’ll see a sponsored ad result that claims to lead to a page that provides Walmart’s customer service information.

Who will end the debate? Political gridlock continues in the House of Commons

Federal political parties appear to be locked in a game of chicken in an increasingly precarious Parliament over a debate that has stalled almost all business in the House of Commons.

The Conservatives have vowed the debate will continue until the Liberals hand over unredacted documents to the RCMP about a green-tech foundation that was found to have misspent government money.

The debate has now stretched into its second week.
