From Thursday, August 1, 2024 to Friday, November 15, 2024 crop residue burning is NOT AUTHORIZED, except by permit, in the municipalities of Rosser, Headingley, St. François Xavier, Cartier, Macdonald, Ritchot, Taché, Springfield, East St. Paul and West St. Paul.
For Wednesday, October 2, 2024 through Thursday, October 3, 2024 crop residue burning is AUTHORIZED from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM in all municipalities in the WESTLAKE/INTERLAKE ZONE and the SOUTHWEST and the NORTHWEST ZONES.

On October 1st at 1:02PM a call was received from a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue. It was reported a 21-year-old female had stolen merchandise from the store. The female was apprehended in the parking lot and had stolen approximately $500 in merchandise. The goods were returned, and she was released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of December 9th, 2024.

Canada condemns Iran's strikes on Israel, reiterates calls for ceasefire
As war spread in the Middle East on Tuesday, Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly "unequivocally" condemned Iran's move to fire dozens of missiles into Israel and called for no further escalation in the war from all sides.
Joly also begged Canadians in Lebanon to leave immediately as Israel began what it is calling a limited ground operation against Hezbollah targets in the southern part of that country.

Cornelius Hiebert, 91, of Rosenort passed away Saturday, September 28th at Morris Hospital. He was survived by his wife Lorine; 3 daughters, 3 sons, 2 sisters-in-law, and their families. He was predeceased by 3 infant great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Cornelius Hiebert will be held Thursday, October 3rd at 10:30am at Rosenort Church of God in Christ, Mennonite with burial at the church cemetery.

The Brandon Wheat Kings are 10th in the Canadian Hockey League Top-10 Rankings. The Wheat Kings are 3-1 to start the 2024-25 Western Hockey League season. The Brampton Steelheads (OHL) are ranked number one followed by the Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL), London Knights (OHL) and Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL).
2024 Canadian Wheat Crop Progress and Harvest Assessment Update
Cereals Canada recently released their 2024 Canadian Wheat Crop Progress and Harvest Assessment Update.
Harvest operations are still underway in many areas of the Prairies.
Stats Canada surveyed farmers in June with estimates showing Canadian farmers planted over 8.2 million hectares of non durum wheat this year, a 3% decrease from last year, while durum acreage showed a 5 per cent increase to nearly 2.6 million acres.
Non-durum wheat is grown across the country in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, and in southern Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.
