Ottawa has concluded negotiations for a trade deal with Indonesia and is proposing nuclear-energy collaboration with Southeast Asian leaders.

The moves are a show of faith for multilateralism as the re-election of Donald Trump in the United States is raising fears of further strain in global co-operation on trade and the environment.

Canada's elections chief wants a ban on the misrepresentation of candidates and other key players in the electoral process through manipulation of their voice or image without consent.

The proposed change to the Canada Elections Act is among several measures chief electoral officer Stéphane Perrault is putting forward to address the use of deepfakes and other artificially created content to fool voters.

In an interview, Perrault said he is "hoping to convince" MPs to expand an electoral reform bill, currently in a House of Commons committee, to include some new elements.

Another weather record has fallen in southern Manitoba. In a season that has seen temperature records broken, Meteorologist Scott Kehler with Weatherlogics says our area has now gone the longest period without snow.

Kehler says it last snowed in April, and because we have yet to see a snowflake this fall, that means the last snowfall was 210 days ago. 

"Which is a record by far," says Kehler.

A 42-year-old CN police officer was arrested for impaired driving earlier this month after a caller reported an erratic driver on the Trans Canada Highway, east of Brandon, shortly before 10 a.m. on November 6th.
    
According to Manitoba RCMP, the caller indicated their concern for the driver who was the wheel of a marked police SUV.

It's time for another Made in Manitoba, and tonight for the first time, we welcome the Winkler and Morden based group Ezrah Stone to the program.

The group has its roots set firmly years ago when Jeffrey Klassen teamed up with a friend to form it, with Ezrah Stone's return to making music about four years ago with Jeffrey reforming and leading it with four new members joining. Josh Reimer, Darcy Bergmann, Yurii Patserniuk and Joel Klassen are now in the mix, with the group's debut album "What's Inside" out now.

Canada's Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault apologized Friday, after shifting claims about his Indigenous identity came under scrutiny.

The Liberal member of Parliament said at an unrelated announcement in Edmonton that he's sorry he hadn't been clear, "with everything that I know now."

"I apologize that I wasn't as clear as I could have been about who I am and my family's history,” he said, adding that he's still learning about his family's heritage "in real time."

George Bartsch, 92, of Gladstone formerly of Austin and McCreary, passed away Monday, November 11th at Gladstone. He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, 1 son, and their families. He was predeceased by 1 son, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers. 
The funeral service for George Bartsch will be held Friday, November 15th at 1pm at Clarke’s Funeral Home, Gladstone with burial at Ausin Sommerfeld Cemetery.  
Viewing will be at the chapel one hour prior to the service.
