Manitoba RCMP officers to begin wearing body cameras
RCMP officers in Treherne will be among the first in our province to start using body-worn cameras, beginning December 4th.
Manitoba RCMP announced that between November 22, 2024, and April 2025, more than 490 officers in 44 Manitoba detachments will be equipped with the cameras. This will include detachments that provide policing services to Ebb and Flow First Nation, Peguis First Nation, Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, Chemawawin Cree Nation, O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation as well as a number of other First Nation communities.
Former Sask. MLA Greg Lawrence pleads guilty to assault.
Former Saskatchewan Party MLA Greg Lawrence pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of assaulting his wife and was sentenced to 12 months of probation.
Lawrence appeared in Moose Jaw Provincial Court for sentencing after initially facing two charges related to an incident in February 2019. The Crown dropped a charge of assault by choking as part of a plea agreement.

Moose Jaw resident Cody Sharpe was the Saskatchewan representative at the Canadian Future Party’s inaugural membership convention in Ottawa recently.
The new centrist federal political party hosted over 100 members at its first convention. The convention allowed the membership to pass the party’s constitution, confirm members of the federal council, and elect the party’s first leader. Sharpe is the party’s national council representative for Saskatchewan.
Government of Canada invests $20.5 million in fight against gun crime in Saskatchewan
the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Public Safety, Democratic Institutions and Intergovernmental Affairs announced this week that the federal government is investing $20.5 million in Saskatchewan to address gun violence through the Gun and Gang Violence Action Fund.
The funding aims to support community organizations and law enforcement in reducing gun crime and improving public safety.
