Poor highway conditions result in more closures and accidents
Light snow, a gusty wind and freezing rain were all wreaking havoc on Manitoba highways once again last night, especially in areas northwest of Portage. An accident was reported on social media near Macdonald on Highway 16, closing the highway from around 6:30 p.m. until 10:45 p.m. Traffic was reportedly at a standstill between Westbourne and Macdonald.
Most roads inside the city of Portage la Prairie are slick as well with the new fallen snow.
New Estevan city council off to the races following first meeting
The new Estevan city council sat down for their first meeting on Monday night, with both old and new faces among those on the council.
Returning councillors Kirsten Walliser and Shelley Veroba returned to the council, joined by new councillors Brian Johnson, Dave Elliot, Matthew Dubowski, and Tom Mauss. Former councillor Anthony Sernick presided over the council as mayor.
What could a new Alberta auto insurance system mean for Strathmore drivers?
The Alberta government announced new changes to its auto insurance system that will take place over the next two years.
Strathmore drivers may be able to cash in on savings as the plan is called the Care-First system and a new website has been launched to help residents navigate the changes and benefits.
According to the province, the program will help with better medical and faster income support benefits.
The benefits will last through the recovery period when Albertans are injured in collisions.
Traffic management changing along Highway 12 Loewen Boulevard starting Tuesday morning
Traffic will look a little different starting Tuesday morning, November 26, in Steinbach.
The City of Steinbach informs that traffic management will change as follows along Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 12 and Loewen Boulevard.
The service road along PTH 12, Loewen Boulevard from PTH 12 to the west side of the driveway of 21 Loewen Boulevard (Penner Int.), and a portion of eastbound Millwork Drive approaching the service road/PTH 12 will be closed.

Free rides to Northern Spirit Light Show for GPAT clients this December
The City of Grande Prairie is spreading holiday cheer for registered Grande Prairie Accessible Transit (GPAT) riders this December through a special seasonal initiative.
Registered GPAT customers can enjoy free round-trip rides to the Northern Spirit Lights Show at Evergreen Park on December 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22. Each trip includes a drive through the spectacular light displays followed by a route around town showcasing some of the most beautifully decorated houses, starting at 6 p.m. on the selected evenings.
County of Grande Prairie crews begin snow removal in Clairmont
County of Grande Prairie snow removal crews will begin residential snow removal in the Hamlet of Clairmont on November 25th.
When the digital “No Parking” signs along streets are visible, temporary parking restrictions are in place and street parking is not permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to ensure crews can work efficiently. Vehicles left on the street when a parking restriction is in place may be ticketed and/or towed.

A moose has been spotted making her rounds through the community for the last week and may well be on her way west of town.
