Woman sent to hospital after youth assault in Chestermere
Chestermere RCMP arrested two youths after an assault on a woman on Canada Day.
Police responded to reports of an adult female being assaulted by a group of youths at John Peake Memorial Park on the evening of July 1.
"RCMP members attended and, through an investigation, arrested two young offenders," wrote Chestermere police.
"One was charged with assault and uttering threats, and the other was charged with one count of assault."
The victim was taken to hospital due to her injuries.

The chuckwagon races fill the stands for day one of the Calgary Stampede
Defending Rangeland Derby Champion Jason Glass from High River came in fifth last night in the first night of chuckwagon races at the Calgary Stampede.
Chad Fike had the fastest wagon of the night though, but Jason Glass is right there, along with Chanse Vigen, who now calls Calgary home.
Dayton Sutherland, hailing from De Winton, came in 15th.
Fike also led off last year's Stampede with the top time on Day One.
Once again, this year the heats have three wagons with 27 drivers invited this year.

Chestermere speeder busted doing 75 km/h over speed limit
A Chestermere peace officer stopped a vehicle doing 75 km/h over the speed limit.
According to the City of Chestermere, the speeder was caught in the late hours of Thursday (July 3) doing 125 km/h on West Merganser Drive, which has a speed limit of 50 km/h.
Officers say the driver was a youth transporting three other young passengers.
"This type of driving behaviour demonstrates a blatant disregard for traffic laws and public safety," wrote Chestermere Municipal Enforcement. "As a result, the driver is facing multiple charges, including careless driving."
Chestermere makes a move for health
The City of Chestermere is encouraging residents to get active and connect with their community.
In partnership with Harmony Health and Fitness, the city is hosting a wellness day at John Peake Memorial Park on Saturday (July 5) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will focus on mental health, physical well-being, community connection, and outdoor fun.
Activities will include outdoor fitness sessions for all ages and abilities, a market featuring 27 vendors, food trucks, and access to mental health resources.

On Saturday (July 5), there will be a ton of activities and attractions for the event at the Strathmore Ag Grounds. The highlight of the event is the vintage cars and community BBQ, which raises funds for Rescued Paws at Alpine View.
Chestermere makes changes to its Municipal Development Plan
Chestermere is unveiling a draft for its Municipal Development Plan (MDP).
A public hearing is scheduled for Monday (July 14) at 6 p.m., allowing residents to share their thoughts on proposed changes to the nearly 10-year-old plan.
Several policies are being updated for 2025.
To better protect school land, the city plans to ban dirt piles on school sites, aiming to speed up the construction of new school buildings.

An Alberta First Nation is asking a judge to review the provincial government's decision earlier this year to end its moratorium on coal mining.
In an application for judicial review filed this week, Siksika Nation says Alberta failed in its duty to consult when in January it lifted its moratorium on new coal mining projects on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains.
Siksika Nation, 95 kilometres east of Calgary, says the effects of coal mining in the Rockies threaten Treaty rights and the land that supports its livelihood.
