Over 500 kids race for a cause during Terry Fox Run at Crowther Junior High School
Over 500 kids at Crowther Memorial Junior High School ran for a cause during the school's annual Terry Fox Run.
The event took place on Thursday (Sept. 19).
Glenda Sorensen, a teacher at the school says the institution has had a Terry Fox Run for as long as she can remember.
Last year they raised over $3,000 for the run.
"It's a beautiful afternoon in the fall to take a moment to think about those in your family who have battled cancer or someone you know," says Sorensen. "It's also a great community-building event for our school."
Quebec premier calls on Bloc Québécois to help topple Trudeau government next week
Quebec Premier François Legault on Thursday urged the Bloc Québécois to help topple the federal Liberal government and trigger an election, saying Prime Minister Justin Trudeau continues to disrespect the will of the province.
Bloc Leader Yves-François Blanchet responded moments later, rejecting that call and saying he serves Quebecers "according to my own judgment."

A petition against the recent garage and garden suites bylaw was presented to Strathmore Town Council at the Wednesday (Sept. 18) meeting.
Feasibility study for senior lodge and hospice pushed back
A feasibility assessment to determine whether to bring in a new lodge and hospice for seniors has been postponed by the Town of Strathmore.
During a council meeting on Wednesday (Sept. 18) town administration asked members of council for more time to review the report.
The request to delay the report was passed. The assessment was scheduled to return to council on October 2 but has now been pushed back until November 6.

Crime report reveals significant drop in vehicle thefts in Strathmore
Strathmore RCMP provided a policing report on crime in the town during a town council meeting on Wednesday (Sept. 18).
The report, which is available on the Town of Strathmore's website, laid out the results of several programs and crime statistics between April 1 and June 30 of this year.
Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park wins provincial award
Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park is the first Indigenous-run Museum to receive a provincial award for social responsibility.
On Saturday (Sept. 14), the park was given the Robert R. Janes Award from the Alberta Museums Association. The award ceremony took place at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller.
Strathmore Aquatic Centre shuts down for maintenance
After a busy summer full of swimming the Aquatic Centre has shut down for its annual maintenance.
Crews with the Town of Strathmore have been working hard to ensure it is up to standards.
"Many of these cleaning and preventative maintenance duties can’t be performed while the building is in use. Full equipment shut-off is required for jobs like tile replacement and drain replacement, making shut down the perfect time to complete these tasks," says the town in a Facebook post.
According to staff, they will let residents know when the pool reopens.
Strathmore Spartans gear up for midday clash in Calgary against Centennial Coyotes
The Strathmore Spartans are heading to Calgary this weekend.
The team's first trip to the city this season features an unusual midday match against the Centennial Coyotes on Friday (Sept. 20).
In the Spartan's previous game against the Chinook Coyotes, the Spartans suffered a home loss of 50-10.
"We were a little overmatched, but I thought the team played pretty hard. Still, there were a lot of mental mistakes being made," said coach Danny Warrack.
Drumheller RCMP find 15-year-old girl after two days
Drumheller RCMP has found 15-year-old Sierra Pope after she was reported missing a few days ago.
Police put out a call for help on Monday (Sept. 16) to try to find her.
"The Drumheller RCMP would like to thank the public, media, assisting police and community agencies for all their assistance in this case," says Staff Sgt. Robert Harms, detachment commander with the Drumheller RCMP.
According to a news release, RCMP previously said they thought she could have been in Drumheller or Calgary, but they didn't provide a location where she was found.
