Terriers players shining through first 23 games
The Portage Terriers have seen excellent production from their squad in the early days of the 2024/25 season, with players appearing in the top five of multiple major stats.
The Dogs have established themselves as a team to watch this season with a record of 16-7, good for second place in both the MGEU East Division and the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) standings. The only team the Terriers are looking up at is the Steinbach Pistons.
Drilling for Oil: Spencer Rheaume
A former Whitecourt Wolverine is making a name for himself in his first year in the BCHL.
Beaverlodge Alberta is home to Okotoks Oilers forward Spencer Rheaume and just over 2,000 residents. The small town near Grand Prairie introduced a giant beaver statue in 2004, a year before Rheaume's birth. The statue can be seen from Highway 43.
Broncos head north to La Ronge
This weekend will mark the lone trip to La Ronge during the 2024-25 regular season for the Humboldt Broncos as they begin a two-game set against the Ice Wolves on Friday night.
Coverage on Bolt FM begins at 7:15, with the opening faceoff is 7:30.
After tonight’s game, the two teams will finish off the back-to-back set on Saturday afternoon. Pregame coverage begins at 2:15, with the opening faceoff at 2:30.

Gage Alexander called up to the AHL
Okotoks' own and Detroit Red Wings prospect Gage Alexander has been called up to play in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins after starting the season with the ECHL Toledo Walleye.
Alexander hasn't suited up for a game yet during the 2024-2025 season but played 19 games in the ECHL last season with the Tulsa Oilers.
Alexander posted a 5-8-1 record while having a 3.76 goals against average and a .887 save percentage. So far in his career, he has played 16 games in the AHL with the San Diego Gulls, and 25 games in the ECHL with the Oilers.
Dawgs bringing back another trio of key pieces
The Okotoks Dawgs have been busy building their roster for the 2025 WCBL season as they aim to make it four championships in a row.
Already Connor Crowson, Ricky Sanchez, Ashton Luera, Logan Grant, Jake Wrubleski, and Ryan McFarland have all been named as returning players.
On Wednesday (Nov. 21), another trio was announced making their way back to Seaman Stadium in Nash "Bash" Crowell, Trent Warstler, and Easton Corey.
Rebels add defenceman to roster
The Red Deer Rebels have added defenceman Dmitri Toporowski ('04) to their roster as an affiliate player.
Toporowski was selected by Prince Albert at the 2021 WHL U.S. Prospects Draft and began this season with the La Ronge Ice Wolves (SJHL) where he has 9 points and 50 PIM in 16 games.
The Rebels are back in action Saturday night at Peavey Mart Centrium against the Victoria Royals. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
Cobras 1-1 heading into today's final round robin set
The Cochrane Cobras varsity girls volleyball team is heading into Day Two of the 3A high school provincials with a 1 and 1 record.
Yesterday, they defeated St. Albert Catholic in their opening set before losing to RF Staples.
Late this morning they play the top-seeded St. Joseph Catholic.
The playoff rounds begin in the afternoon and wrap up Saturday.
The Cobras already have two banners under their belt, winning both the Rocky View Division and South Central Zone championships.
They were ranked #2 in the province heading into the championship.
Full Line Ag Wildcats continue impress start to season
Hayley Anderson scored once and added two assists propelling the Swift Current Full Line Ag Wildcats to a 3-1 win against the Notre Dame Hounds last night.
Anderson tied the game at 1-1 midway through the second period before setting up Kassie Gryde's game-winner halfway through the third period.
Olivia Dyrland added an insurance marker with just under five minutes left in the game, which was also assisted by Anderson.
Wildcats' goalie Karli Duncan stopped 26 of the 27 shots sent her way helping Swift Current move to 5-1 on the season.
Gens looking to extend their winning streak
The Cochrane Generals are looking for a different result in tonight's (Nov. 22) home game against the Okotoks Bisons.
The puck drops in the first of two back-to-back home games at 8 p.m. against the top team in the HJHL south division.
The Bisons have won both encounters with the Gens this season, the last a 6-1 win in Cochrane.
Saturday night, the Wheatland Kings are appearing in Cochrane for the first time this season at 8:15 p.m.. The two teams are 1-1 in their matchups, each close one-goal wins.
