Terriers stopped by Blizzard

The Portage Terriers’ 11-game win streak came to an end on Friday night when they lost 4-3 to the Northern Manitoba Blizzard.

The Terriers have struggled early in games throughout the season and Friday night was no different. Midway through the first period Keenan McNeill snapped home a shot over the shoulder of Terrier goalie Ryan Velan on the power play. 38 seconds later the Blizzard scored again with a Marlen Edwards point shot deflecting into the net.

Barnett, Fuchs and Noad combine for 8 points in Pistons 8th straight win

It was not an ideal start for Steinbach, giving up the first two goals of the game before digging themselves out of the hole and eventually posted a 7-3 win to extend their win streak to 8 games.

To open the contest, the Pistons were a little scattered and it allowed the scrappy Winnipeg Freeze to kind of hang around and eventually, find a way to grab a 2-0 lead, notching a pair of markers 18 seconds apart.

"Lots of guys started off moving their feet, and just weren't finding that puck luck, just weren't earning those puck battles and those puck races," said Red Wings assistant coach Willy Mason after the game.

Drilling for Oil: Brayden Duy

St. Louis-born and raised defenceman Brayden Duy has been a welcome addition to the Okotoks Oilers roster this year.

While hockey thrives in Canada, it's not normally the sport of choice for Americans.

"The first neighbourhood that I lived in, there was a bunch of kids my age. We all just kind of went out there and played every single sport you could imagine, hockey was one of them and that just was the one that I picked. I have loved it ever since," Duy explained.
