Golden Eels welcome new swimmers, prepare for big summer
With summer just around the corner, the Estevan Golden Eels Swim Club is getting ready to dive into a new season—and there’s still time to register.
“We’re really looking forward to this season,” said Scott Walton, president of the Estevan Golden Eels Swim Club. “We’ve had a few of our older swimmers reach the end of their swim careers, so we had a few extra spots. We actually have about nine extra spots for registration, so there’s still spots available if people are interested in joining the club.”

15U AAA South Central squad ready to hit ground running
As he gets set for his 21st season coaching ball in the area, Brent Unrau, is ready to lead the U15 AAA South Central squad again and he's looking forward to a special year.
Going through the process of making the team has been both fun and challenging, according to Unrau. "It's very exciting to get the best players from the area together and be able to form a team. Looking forward to getting outside, there's only so much you can do inside. We had a great turnout for the tryouts and it made making the team pretty tough."
Wildcats' Kihn highlights friendships and growth
The Eastman Wildcats programs are ready for another year and President Russ Kihn is looking forward to a big year for all the teams.
"Oh man, the weather gets you excited, right?" Kihn says ahead of his 8th season as a coach for a Wildcats team. "It's starting to get really nice here, a little earlier than in years past. The sun is out, the grass is out, it's starting to get really exciting."

Humboldt Broncos looking to fill spring camp roster
With the Humboldt Broncos Spring Camp just around the corner, the hockey club is looking to fill out it's roster for the weekend.
The team says there forward and defence spots open for both the 2010-11 and the 2006-09 group.

Once the roster is filled for spring camp, the Broncos won't accept any additional entries.
Strathmore Venom Lacrosse Club begins season play
The Strathmore Venom Lacrosse Club has kicked off its regular season.
On April 14, the club announced that its U13 to U17 teams had begun their season.
The junior team’s first game is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, against the Calgary Wranglers at 6 p.m. at the Brentwood Sportsplex.
The Venom have 13 teams on their roster, ranging from U7 to the junior league.

Brittany Sparwood is the billet coordinator for the Weyburn Beavers, she says the responsibilities of a billet family include providing food, a private place to sleep, and a sense of family.
École Gravelbourg School Girls Volleyball wins Sportsmanship Award
École Gravelbourg School girls' volleyball team have recently won the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association's (SHSAA) Sportsmanship Award.
The Provincial Volleyball Tournament that was held in Outlook, SK from Nov 15 and 16, 2024. The award is given to one team out of the tournament that shows sportsmanship through respect for opponents, officials, and the hosting school.
ECS badminton players moving on to regionals after district success
The Estevan Comprehensive School badminton team is celebrating a clean sweep at the district level, with all players earning medals and advancing to Regionals.
In Boys Singles, Dongjun Won took home gold after a dominant run through the bracket. Jane Contillo matched that result in Girls Singles, also earning first place with a strong and steady performance.
In Boys Doubles, Xave Sequito and Moksh Rabari proved to be a winning combination, capturing gold in their division.
