Senior hockey takes center stage with goals, shutouts, and rivalries
There was a lot of action on the ice in the arenas throughout southeast Saskatchewan, with minor hockey games taking place across the region. Some of the biggest on-ice excitement in the southeast, though, happened during the senior games in the evenings, with all three leagues in the area having games.

WHL players eligible to play NCAA Division I hockey in 2025
Last week it was announced that CHL players will now be eligible to compete in NCAA D1 Hockey beginning in the 2025-26 season.
The NCAA Division 1, which regulates U.S. college athletics, approved the rule change on Thursday. Previously, CHL players were ineligible to compete at the NCAA level as they were deemed professional because players receive a stipend of up to $600 per month for living expenses.
Rebels drop third straight south of the border
The Red Deer Rebels lost their third straight Monday night falling in Everett by a score of 6-1.
The Rebels have dropped the first three games of their six-game U.S. road trip, which continues Tuesday night in Seattle (8:05 p.m.).
Carter Bear opened the scoring on the power play for the WHL leading Silvertips at 8:29 into the first.
The Rebels would respond short-handed with less than two minutes left in the period when Ollie Josephson found the back of the net.

Weyburn remains unbeaten in November after win over Melville
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings extended their point streak to 14 games, and their winning streak to six, as they beat the Melville Millionaires 4-3 Monday evening. The team did have to work for the win, though, and would end up delivering one of the most exciting games fans have seen this season.
Sports Update - Tuesday, November 12th
The Brandon Wheat Kings seven-game points streak came to an end Monday afternoon at Westoba Place. Koen Cleaver made 35 saves as the Lethbridge Hurricanes blanked Brandon 3-0. Wheat Kings netminder Connor Bjarnason stopped 30 shots.
Sports Update - Tuesday, November 12th
The Steinbach Regional junior varsity boys & junior varsity girls volleyball teams will play their South Central Athletic Conference AAAA semifinals tonight at the SRSS. The junior varsity boys will meet the Dakota Lancers at 6 p.m. The jv girls will take on Northlands Parkway at 7:30 p.m.
Merik Boles scored twice and Raiden LeGall made 24 saves as the Niverville Nighthawks defeated the Neepawa Titans 5-1 at the Yellowhead Centre. Matthew Bertolin, Adam Vigfusson and Carter Spirig also found the back of the net for the Nighthawks who have won six in a row.
Sport Update - Tuesday, November 12th
Brady Craik scored his 11th & 12th goals of the season on the power play as the Winkler Flyers defeated the Winnipeg Blues 6-1 at Hockey for All Centre. Mathys Blanchette. Jayce Legaarden, Isaac Deveau and Will Brophy also scored for the defending Turnbull Cup champions who have won three in a row. Winkler goaltender Rylan Benner stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced.
Sports Round-Up: Tuesday, November 12
The Moose Jaw Warriors return to the ice tonight after dropping a pair of games over the weekend. The Warriors look to bounce back as they start a home and home series against the Swift Current Broncos tonight at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
