Last call for coaches: Weyburn Soccer Association needs volunteers

With their season kicking off in early May, the Weyburn Soccer Association is currently in the process of organizing teams, assigning coaches, and building the season schedule.

The WSA is, however, still in need of coaches in all age groups, and today they put out a final call for volunteers.

If they are unable to find a coach for a group, refunds may need to be issued for the players for teams that do not have coaches.

AJHL Final set to begin on Good Friday in Calgary

The Alberta Junior Hockey League final kicks off on Good Friday in Calgary.

The Grande Prairie Storm will face the Canucks in Game 1 on April 18 at 7 p.m.

Game 2 follows in Calgary on April 19, with Game 3 in Grande Prairie on April 22.

The Storm swept Whitecourt in the North Division final, while the Canucks completed a 4-game sweep of Drumheller in the South Division final.

 

Kindersley Minor Hockey wrapping up season prior to Esso Awards 

The Esso Awards for Kindersley Minor Hockey are coming up next week in the community. In the leadup, Minor Sports had their coaches/managers supper on Tuesday to celebrate the season a little early, and the U13 Klippers were one team that completed their windup, taking in the Saskatchewan Rush game on April 4. 

The U13 Klippers packed the bus Friday afternoon for the Rush game windup, getting to their fantastic SaskTel Centre seats for warmups as most of the team was able to take home a Rush warmup ball.

RUSH REACH: Brock Haley shines in rookie season

Rush forward Brock Haley is having himself quite the rookie season. Through 15 games played, he has recorded 16 goals and 24 assists.  

The Saskatchewan Rush have 11 wins and 5 losses and are currently in second place in the NLL standings. Haley says part of the reason the team is so successful is because everyone has bought in. 

CobraCats bringing rugby spirit to life with Dress Up Rumble

The CobraCats high school rugby teams are embracing the fun-loving spirit of the rugby community with a Seniors Dress Up Rumble this Friday afternoon.

The event takes place from 2 to 6 p.m. at the SLS Legacy Sportsfield, located next to Bow Valley High School.

Players will take the field dressed to impress for some 7s touch rugby—and fans are encouraged to get in on the action by showing up in costume, too.

CobraCats Taia Graham and Sienne Showman say both the boys’ and girls’ teams will be suiting up in dresses for the game.
