U13 'A' Humboldt Broncos head to Moosomin as they attempt to capture the 'B' Provincial Championship

 

The U13 ‘A’ Humboldt Broncos will try and finish the season off on the best possible note as they travel to Moosomin on Saturday to meet the Rangers.  

Last weekend, Humboldt opened the final series with a 5-3 win.  

Opening faceoff for tomorrow’s game is 2:30. If Moosomin beats Humboldt, then the two teams will battle in a ten minute “mini game” immediately following Game 2.  

Red-hot Holloway leads Blues to comeback win

Bragg Creek's Dylan Holloway notched two goals last night, including the game-winner, to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 3-2 comeback win over the Nashville Predators, Mar. 27.

Powered by a season-high eight straight wins, the Blues have a grip on the final wild card spot in the NHL's Western Conference with a five-point lead over the Vancouver Canucks and are just two-points behind the Minnesota Wild. They eliminated the Predators from the NHL playoffs with the win.

Aurdrie's Jake Neighbours also had an assist in the win.

The call of the court - Jay Eichorst and USask volleyball bring home bronze

The USask Huskies men’s volleyball team has been in rebuilding mode for a number of years, and those efforts have paid off, thanks in part to recruitment of strong candidates like Humboldt’s own Jay Eichorst. This year, Eichorst contributed to the strongest finish for the Huskies in USport volleyball in years. The club took the bronze medal at USport nationals, hosted by Brandon University last weekend. 

No tomorrow: U18AA Gold Wings prepare for final push in provincial championship

The Under 18 AA Southeast Apex Gold Wings stand to take home the provincial championship this Sunday at home against the Warman Wildcats. The Wildcats took the first game in the best of three series with a 3-1 win in Midale. The Gold Wings then tied it up in Warman with a come-from-behind 4-2 victory.  

Head coach for the Gold Wings, Rodney Reid, says this weekend's game doesn’t have much added pressure for the team, noting his confidence in their work this year. 

Sylvan Lake Wranglers win HJHL championship

The Okotoks Bisons' streak as Heritage Junior Hockey League champions has come to an end.

A 2-1 Sylvan Lake win at the Murray Arena on Thursday saw the Wranglers reclaim the title for the first time in 15 years.

Game 4, despite being the lowest scoring of the final series, saw the most shots on goal, with the Wranglers firing 29 attempts at Bisons netminder Connor White, and the Herd pelting visiting goalie Kaden Toussaint with 46 shots.

The Regina Pat Canadians completed a three-game sweep of the Moose Jaw Winmar Warriors in the Sask Male Triple "A" championship final.

The Pat Canadians beat Moose Jaw 3-1 last night, earning a spot in the Western Canadian Regional playdowns in Kenora, Ontario next week.

Curling takes centre stage at Moose Jaw's Temple Gardens Centre this weekend with the BKT World Men's Curling Championship getting underway. Team Canada opens up against Japan tomorrow afternoon.
