Flatlanders Speedway ties bow on PDRA race weekend
The Prairie Dirt Racing Association increases the atmosphere at any track it invades, and Kindersley was the lucky track this past weekend as they hosted two days of racing featuring the series alongside their regular competition.
A busier-than-usual race weekend typically takes an all-hands on deck approach, and the Speedway had some thanks to give on Wednesday once the dust finally settled.
Team Sask raises medal count to 10 at Canada Summer Games
Team Sask picked up two medals at Day 12 of the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St Johns, Newfoundland.
Wednesday's competition culminated with a bronze medal in diving for Lila Stewart, and another bronze in athletics for Logan Kok. Team Sask's ninth and tenth medals, Stewart's podium finish came in the Women's 3m Springboard event, while Kok was a top three finisher in Decathlon.

The Prairie Dirt Racing Association is set to return to southwest Saskatchewan this weekend for a wild round of races in conjunction with the inaugural Cowboys & Chrome event.
The Swift Current Motor Speedway will host the races with a full lineup, including the minis, hobbies, street stocks, modifieds, and a brand new kids modified class for ages eight to 14.

There's no shortage of opportunities to curl in Cochrane in the upcoming season.
The Cochrane Curling Club is inviting residents of all ages and skill levels to learn more about the full slate of 15 leagues and programs running weekdays and evenings during an information and registration event on Aug. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the SLS Centre's On the Rocks Lounge.
Secretary and league coordinator Barb Gibson says it's the ideal opportunity for new residents or people new to the sport to ask questions, explore leagues, and find a spot on the ice.
Dual sport athlete, 11-year-old Ace Graham, a star in the making
Ace Graham is a hockey player, as well as a baseball player, and the 11-year-old excels at both, but as he looks into the future, he's looking to build on his baseball career and also be named Sports Illustrated Youth Athlete of the Year.
Starting with hockey, Graham says he got involved because of a family member. "My dad just signed me up, and I just started playing."
While he likes hockey, the 11-year-old star says he is leaning toward baseball. "Two years ago, I liked hockey better, but now I like baseball more."

Reimer and Tuplin lead Sask into 4x400-metre men's final
Swift Current track stars Rowan Reimer and Carter Tuplin helped Team Saskatchewan Wednesday night qualify for the 4x400-metre men's final at the Canada Summer Games.
Team Saskatchewan finished third in heat 1 with a time of 3:17.38, trailing only Ontario and Alberta.
Reimer ran the third leg of the race, while Tuplin was the anchor, both helping qualify the province for a chance at a medal on Saturday night in St. John's, Newfoundland.
'Tossing a Gem' Weyburn's Devin Furgason cleans house at Cornhole Nationals
The 5th annual Canadian National Cornhole Championships (CNCC) took place last week in Beaumont, AB featuring the best of the best when it comes to cornhole in Canada. It also featured some talent from nearly 900km southeast here in Weyburn, including Devin Furgason. Furgason took home some hardware in the Tier 4 intermediate ranking, winning the Top Men’s Singles, Top Open Singles, and the Top 16 Singles, making him the best cornhole player in that Tier 4 Division. He also placed second in the Men’s Doubles and third in Open Doubles.

Box Lacrosse
Swift Current's Kai Foster limited Manitoba's offence Wednesday morning, helping backstop Team Sask to its second straight win at the Canada Summer Games in St. John's, Newfoundland.
Foster and Team Sask beat Manitoba 5-3 in men's box lacrosse to move to 2-0 in pool play and will face 1-1 New Brunswick on Wednesday night.

Lucky Lake's Kash Meyers started all four sets for Team Sask as they came from behind to beat British Columbia in men's volleyball.
Kashton Smith scores hat trick as men’s box lacrosse opens at summer games
Moose Jaw’s Kashton Smith was one of Saskatchewan’s leading scorers as they defeated PEI 18-1 at the Canada Summer Games on Tuesday in St. John’s, Nfld.
Smith finished with three goals and five assists, while fellow Moose Javian Chase Folk also had a goal for Saskatchewan.
Team Saskatchewan is back on the floor for two games on Wednesday when they take on Manitoba and New Brunswick.
