Swift Current's Wilson returns home for final WHL season

Swift Current's Anthony Wilson has come home to play his final WHL season with the Broncos.

"All roads lead home," he said. "It's been pretty cool. I played at a young age here, and being back here wearing a Bronco jersey is obviously pretty special."

Wilson joined the Broncos after being waived by Lethbridge in the post-season.

"I got put up on waivers, and then Chad reached out over the summer and told me he wanted me to come to camp," Wilson said. "I ended up here and am super pumped about it.

Oil Kings looking to build on last year, ready to climb the mountain

Coming off a strong regular season and playoff run, the Virden Oil Kings are looking to get over the hump in 2025/26, and coach/manager Ryan Mathieson believes they are primed for something special.

"It's that time of the year, and we're staring to get the itch," Mathieson says with a chuckle. "(I've) been talking about it with some guys, got some ice lined up, so it's coming."

Keeping connected

Kettles and McGregor head to NHL camps

Two members of the Swift Current Broncos are off to get a taste of "the show."

Defencemen Peyton Kettles and Josh McGregor are attending NHL rookie camps.

Kettles was picked by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2nd round of the 2025 NHL Draft.

He was a 1st round pick by Swift Current in the WHL Prospects Draft and is entering his third season in the league.

McGregor is a free agent invite to Carolina's camp.

Moen ready for new challenge on WHL bench

When Travis Moen retired from the NHL he probably could have jumped right to a professional or junior coaching job.

Moen not only played 747 NHL games and won a Stanley Cup, but his two-way style of game often lends itself to success in the coaching ranks.

Instead, the Stewart Valley product opted to help guide his son, Carter, through minor hockey in Swift Current.

Now, as Carter climbs to the WHL, so does Travis.

Moen has signed up this season as an assistant on new Broncos Head Coach Dean DeSilva's staff.
