Broncos' Holtvogt shines in opening appearance
Local boy, Brady Holtvogt suited up for his first career SJHL start in his hometown arena and turned aside all 30 shots faced picking up his first career win in a 1-0 shutout victory for the Broncos over the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Saturday.
In the same building where he played the majority of his minor hockey career growing up, Holtvogt was the crowd favourite all night long, increasingly amplifying the EPA audience’s cheers with every save he made through the 60 minutes.
Mohawks outmuscle Crusaders for playoff win
In a nail-biting playoff matchup, the Humboldt Mohawks battled the John Paul II Crusaders of North Battleford, ultimately securing a 42-29 victory that showcased both teams' resilience and determination.
The Crusaders were first on the scoreboard as quarterback Nate Fransoo connected with wide receiver Ryder Kozlowski, at 5:34 left in the first quarter, marking the first score of the game.
The Cougars Report

Bryan Little receives standing ovation as he skates Canada Life Centre one last time
There was not a dry eye in the building as Bryan Little took to the ice one last time at Canada Life Centre on Sunday to retire as a member of the Winnipeg Jets.
The former Jets forward announced late in September that he would sign a one-day contract with the Jets to allow him to officially retire as a member of the team he spent his entire career with.
Mixed results for Weyburn hockey teams this weekend
There were a number of games this weekend for Weyburn hockey teams, with a lot of the action taking place at Crescent Point Place.

Sports Update - Monday, October 21st
The Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders and Vincent Massey Vikings were winners in the Westman High School Hockey League Sunday in Brandon. Neilan Slater had a goal and two assists as the Raiders defeated Crocus Plains 5-2. Jesse Wilton, Aubrey Cuvelier and Kaleb Friesen also scored for the Raiders. Drayden Murray had both goals for the Plainsmen. Joey Leblanc had a hat trick and Josh Romanik chipped in with two goals and four assists as the defending champion Vikings blanked the Major Pratt Trojans 12-0. Landon McGregor made 17 saves in recording the shutout.

The Ste. Anne Aces, Macdonald Swarm, Mitchell Mustangs, Niverville Clippers and Springfield Xtreme were winners at the first Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League Showcase held Sunday in Niverville. Zach Perrin scored twice as the Aces defeated the Landmark Blues 8-4; Coltyn Plaitin scored the go-ahead goal with 11 seconds left in regulation to lift the Swarm past the East St.

The Winkler Flyers six-game win streak came to an end Sunday night at the ICON Arena. Cole Sheffield made 33 saves as the Dauphin Kings defeated the defending Turnbull Cup champions 3-1. Blake Matheson got the Flyers on the board first as he scored his third of the season on the power play 16:04 into the opening period. Rylan Gage scored a shorthanded goal for the Kings just over a minute later to even the score at 1-1. Cayden Glover potted the go-ahead goal 17 seconds into the second period and Gavin Nemis put the visitors up by two with a power play goal 3:03 into the third.

The Moose Jaw Warriors dropped a 6-3 decision to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday and lost 6-5 in overtime to the Swift Current Broncos on Saturday. They’re next on the ice against the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds tomorrow.
The Moose Jaw Winmar AAA Warriors beat the visiting Tisdale Trojans 5-3 on Saturday, improving to 5 and 2 on the season. They’re off for a week, before playing the Notre Dame Hounds a week from Wednesday.
