The Canadian Wrestling’s Elite tour made its highly anticipated return to Weyburn Tuesday night, bringing body slams, big energy, and even a can of wet dog food to the Weyburn Legion. Part of the "Point to Prove" Tour, the event was headlined by former TNA World Heavyweight Champion “Cowboy” James Storm and featured a full card of matches that had the crowd on their feet throughout the night.

Veterans Leon Draisaitl and Corey Perry scored a goal and an assist each and the Edmonton Oilers topped the Dallas Stars 4-1 last night, taking a commanding 3-1 series lead in the NHL's Western Conference final. The Oilers can finish it off Thursday night in Dallas.
Tonight, the Carolina Hurricanes will try to extend their season against Florida. The Panthers take a 3-1 series lead into game 5.
The Medicine Hat Tigers beat the London Knights 3-1 at the Memorial Cup last night. With the win, the Tigers earned a spot in the championship game on Sunday night.

Neutens delivers as Tigers claw into Memorial Cup final
The undefeated Medicine Hat Tigers are heading to the Memorial Cup final.
On Tuesday night, the Western Hockey League champions punched their ticket with a 3–1 win over the Ontario Hockey League champion London Knights.
It was a huge night for Cochrane’s Ethan Neutens, who scored his first Memorial Cup goal. Acquired from the Kelowna Rockets earlier in the season, Neutens stepped up with the equalizer, lingering low along the goal line to fire home a Tanner Molendyk rebound just over five minutes into the second period.
Kirkup named Head Coach of the Westman Wildcats
After staring as a player years ago, Karissa Kirkup is returning to the Westman Wildcats, this time as Head Coach.
"You know, I haven't had a whole lot of time to process it but I can say I'm very excited," Kirkup says with a smile. "It feels like a full circle moment. I played hockey there from grade 9-12 from 2009-13, I know there are a lot of great players from the area and I'm just so excited to get going."
Kihn leads U15 Wildcats to impressive tournament victory
It was a special weekend for the U15 Wildcats as the group captured first place in a big tournament and head coach Russ Kihn couldn't be prouder of his group.
"We went out to Saskatoon, they have their annual Presidents Tournament, that's Saskatoon Minor Softball," the coach explains. "We ended up having a fantastic weekend. We played our four round robin games and we won all of those, we went through the semifinals and we won the championship, 5-1 against the St. Albert Angels out of Edmonton."
Friesen determined to bring provincial banner home to Winkler
The Garden Valley Collegiate Zodiacs will represent Zone 4 in Stonewall starting on Thursday and pitcher Jackson Friesen believes his club is ready to bring a provincial banner home to Winkler.
Five Cochrane Cobras in the running for U18 Team Alberta
Five members of the Cochrane Cobras football players are in the running to suit up for U18 Team Alberta.
At the final round of tryouts held last weekend in Red Deer, Brock Van De Kraats, Jackson Hughes, Ronen McClelland, Evan Samoleski, and Tyler Clazie all finished in the Top 100.
The final roster of 40 players, who will represent Alberta at the U18 Canada Cup in Antigonish, N.S., from July 12 to 21, is expected to be announced later this week.
Selected players will return to Red Deer for a training camp from June 13 to 15 ahead of the national competition.
Estevan trio among U15 SE Goldwings award winners
The U15AA Whitecap Resources Gold Wings female hockey team celebrated a successful season at the Hockey Weyburn awards night on Monday, recognizing the outstanding efforts of their players.
This season, the Gold Wings set new team records with a notable winning streak and playoff success, said Assistant Coach Shawn Madsen. He described the year as a “really good stepping stone” for the program’s future. Though the team narrowly missed advancing further in the playoffs, losing by just one goal in the final round, the effort was commendable.
FVBL doubleheader Tuesday in Kindersley
Senior baseball action returns to Kindersley on Tuesday night with a pair of Fertile Valley Baseball League games.
All four Kindersley teams are in action, starting at 6:00 PM when the Cubs face the Raiders, the first half of a doubleheader as the Stallions and Klippers fire things up afterwards at 8:00.
The Cubs opened their season with a 17-11 win in Rosetown on Sunday in the league's only game of the season so far. The Raiders had their Sunday game against Oyen cancelled, now set to join the Stallions and Klippers in making their season debut tonight.
