Ste. Anne's U11 girls fast pitch team enjoying life on and off the field

It's been an exciting start to the season for one of Ste. Anne's U11 girls fast pitch teams and coach Alyssa Kibsey couldn't be happier with how the team is doing on the field and also how girls sports are growing around the province. 

"The girls are all vibing and having a great time," Kibsey says with a smile. "The commitments have been awesome and it's so great to see them developing their skills while loving the game."

Centennials looking to keep championship dynasty

The Boissevain Centennials have won the last three South West Baseball League championships and manager Jay Pringle believes the group can do it again this year.

Heading into his 14th year with the Centennials, Pringle says the excitement of a new season never gets old. "It's good, we're always anxious and looking forward to it. We always seem to have quite a bit of success in ball, so everyone gets antsy when the weather gets nicer. Thankfully this year, it was pretty warm for our first game."

Track and field star Roberts building to provincials

Amery Roberts has been dominating his track and field events of late and the athletic wonder is looking to continue it heading into provincials.

Track and field has always been a passion for Roberts. "I started track and field in grade five. Our school didn't have very many athletes, so I joined the grade seven/eight program when I was in grade five. After COVID, I was out of it for a bit, and after joining long distance for a while, I kind of drifted in and out of events. Now, I'm pretty stuck to discus, javelin and triple jump. I've been doing that for three years."

Regina ekes past 13U AAA 57s on Local Sports Live

The Swift Current 13U AAA Girodat Seeds 57s came up just short Sunday afternoon in a back-and-forth affair against the Regina Wolfpack on Country 94.1's Local Sports Live powered by OMT Projects.

Regina plated five runs in the top of the fifth inning to break a 4-4 tie and hung on for a 9-6 win in game one of the doubleheader at Kiwanis Field in Swift Current.

Starting pitcher Avery Christianson worked four-plus innings for Swift Current in the loss and also went 2-for-3 at the plate with two singles, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Iron Maidens make comeback with new U15 girls hockey team

The Iron Maidens are making a return to the ice, this time with a younger roster and a renewed purpose.

A U15 girls hockey team is being formed in MacGregor with the goal of giving local players a chance to keep playing after co-ed hockey shifts to contact.

The original Iron Maidens team started in MacGregor in 1998.

It later grew to include players from Portage, Brandon, Gladstone, Westbourne and Rossendale.

Rush drop game three heartbreaker in Buffalo

The Saskatchewan Rush fell 15-6 against the Buffalo Bandits in game three of the 2025 NLL Finals, dropping the championship series 2-1. 

Saskatchewan got two goals from Austin Shanks and one from Zach Manns in the first quarter, sitting level at 3-3 after 15 minutes. 

Robert Church scored twice in the 2nd and Ryan Keenan found the back of the net, cutting the deficit to 7-6 at the half. 

Buffalo’s offence exploded for eight goals in the second half which ended up being the difference maker as the Bandits won their third straight NLL Finals. 

Tigers bounce back to win first game of Memorial Cup

The Medicine Hat Tigers clawed back from a 3-2 second-period deficit to defeat the host Rimouski Océanic 5-4 in the opening game of the Memorial Cup.

The Tigers scored twice early in the third to take a 4-3 lead, but Rimouski responded with its third power-play goal of the game to tie things up. Tabbie Hunter St. Martin, who had assisted on a Bryce Pickford goal earlier, netted the game-winner at 17:19 of the final frame.

SRSS Sabres Recap

The Steinbach Sabres football program rolled into Grant Park on a gorgeous May afternoon with 95 players strong for a JV and Varsity double header vs the Pirates.

The JV Sabres jumped out to a 16-8 halftime lead. Grant Park responded with a strong 2nd half taking the lead 38-16 before the Sabres rallied late and closed the gap before ultimately losing 38-30.

Roran Robertshaw connected on 2 big TD passes to Kaynen Hruda and Tyler Penner.

All Saints claims top spot in record breaking SWAC track meet

All Saints Catholic School claimed bragging rights at the SWAC Bantam Track and Field Meet this week.

They finished with 89 points to win the meet.

Ecole Centennial was 2nd place with 76 points, while Fairview School had 66 points.

Luxi Hamilton of All Saints earned top spot among female individuals with 36 points. She finished just ahead of Fairview's Mya Dowdswell at 34 and Ecole Centennial's Emmerson Wiens at 32.

Calum Shea of Waldeck and Damon James of Ecole Centennial tied for the male individual point leaders at 32.
