Team Saskatchewan into semi-finals at National Aboriginal Hockey Championship
There is only two days left at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship tournament going on in Kamloops, BC. Friday marks the semi-final round for both male and female play, and Team Saskatchewan has both teams still alive.
The preliminary round games were played Monday through Thursday. The boys went 3-1-1 in the round robin to finish the third, while the girls team went 2-2-1 to also finish third.
The male semi-final will go first as Team Saskatchewan faces off against Team Manitoba. The teams met in the first game of the tournament with Manitoba taking a 5-3 win.
Dave Struch steps down as Rebels Head Coach
The Red Deer Rebels have announced that due to personal reasons, Dave Struch is unable to continue as the club’s head coach.
Struch joined the Rebels as Interim Head Coach in March 2024 and guided the club to a second-round playoff appearance. He was named full-time Head Coach prior to the 2024-25 season.
Rebels select 11 players at 2025 WHL Prospects Draft
The Red Deer Rebels stocked up for the future by selecting 11 players at the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.
The group includes six forwards, four defencemen, and one goaltender.
Opening win launches a new season for the East Central 18U AAA Red Sox
Another season of the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League is under way, and that means a return for the summer sons of the East Central U18 AAA Red Sox. Once again playing out of James Korte Field in Muenster, the squad looks to continue its record of baseball excellence in developing players that find their way into college and professional systems.
The team saw their season opener in Saskatoon this week facing the Giants, and they walked away with a welcome opening win, soundly defeating their opponents 12-2.

They added a total of 12 youngsters to what they call their "prospects pool". The Moose Jaw Warriors and the rest of the Western Hockey League teams wrapped up the US Priority Draft and the Prospects Draft yesterday.
Among the players Moose Jaw selected is goalie Dylan Mingo from Peachland, BC. General Manager Jason Ripplinger called him the best goalie in the draft. He got him in the 2nd round. You can read the full story on Discover Moose Jaw this morning.
The Melfort Mustangs dropped their first game at the Centennial Cup last night, 3-1 to the host Calgary Canucks.
DRAFT | Warriors select nine additional prospects at the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft
MOOSE JAW, Sask. – The Moose Jaw Warriors have completed the 2025 US Priority Draft and the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft, adding 12 players to their prospect pool.
With the 41st overall selection, the Warriors selected goaltender Dylan Mingo from Peachland, British Columbia. Mingo played last season with Kelowna’s RINK Hockey Academy U15 Prep team. He appeared in 21 games and has a save percentage of .899% and a goals against average of 4.05. Mingo was the highest selected goalie at this year’s draft.
Owen Grassick gears up for next step in his WHL Journey
Cochrane’s Owen Grassick's dream came true after being selected by the Moose Jaw Warriors in yesterday’s WHL Prospects Draft.
The 6-foot-1, 155-pound forward was taken 80th overall in the fourth round of the draft, which began with the first round on May 7.
He was having lunch in his sister's car at school when he refreshed his phone to discover his selection. He got a call a bit later from a Warriors' scout.
“Just pure excitement,” said Grassick. “I’ve wanted to go to Moose Jaw for so many years now. When I found my name beside their logo, I was just ecstatic.”
Rush one win away from NLL Finals
Two kicks at the can this weekend for the Saskatchewan Rush to clinch a berth in the NLL Finals.
Facing the Halifax Thunderbirds in a best-of-three semi-final series, Saskatchewan won 16-7 in Game 1 last weekend on the road, now back home Saturday for Game 2, and Game 3 on Sunday if needed. The Rush were led by former Thunderbird Austin Shanks who scored six goals, helping provide a nice cushion for goalie Frank Scigliano who made 41 saves in the win.

Goldeyes drop opening day heartbreaker at Cleburne
The Winnipeg Goldeyes opened the 2025 American Association season with a 6-5, ten-inning defeat at the hands of the Cleburne Railroaders (1-0) Thursday at La Moderna Field.
On an overcast and breezy evening, Cleburne edged the Goldeyes (0-1) in a tight battle that saw both teams going back-and-forth from the second inning on.
Landen Bourassa took the Opening Day nod for the first time since pitching for the University of San Francisco and fired a six-inning quality start, allowing three runs on five hits, walking a batter and striking out four.
