Miller Express tops Beavers for third straight win

The Moose Jaw Miller Express defeated the Weyburn Beavers 4-1 last night at Ross Wells Park to pick up their third straight win. 

After Weyburn opened the game with a single run in the top of the first inning, Moose Jaw tied the game on a Robert Estrada single that scored Austin Gurney. 

Moose Jaw's defence held the Beavers scoreless for the next eight innings. 

Cochrane Minor Hockey named association of the year by Hockey Alberta

The Cochrane Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) has been named Hockey Alberta’s Minor Hockey Association of the Year, recognizing its exceptional year of growth and leadership.

The award was presented at a gala in Red Deer last weekend.

Drew Dixon, senior manager of membership for Hockey Alberta, said CMHA stood out for its efforts to expand programming to meet the needs of players at all levels—from recreational to elite.

Red Sox Set to compete at SPBL Championship with high hopes and a winning attitude

Championship weekend has arrived for the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League (SPBL), and the East Central 18U AAA Red Sox are preparing for a battle that promises high stakes and hard-fought innings. With the tournament running from Thursday through Sunday at Saskatoon's Cairns and Leakos Fields, the Red Sox will open their playoff run Thursday at noon against a familiar opponent, the Sask Five Marlins. 

Bragg Creek's Pelkey set to make waves on world stage

Bragg Creek’s Megan Pelkey is preparing to compete against the world’s best in her own backyard.

The local athlete will compete for Team Canada at the 2025 IWWF World U21 Waterski Championships, set for July 31 to August 3 at Predator Bay Water Ski Club just south of Calgary.

Pelkey is one of 13 athletes representing Canada at the prestigious event, which will welcome over 100 competitors from more than 20 countries. She’ll compete in all three individual events, slalom, trick, and jump, as an individual qualified athlete.

AAA Sun Devils end season on winning note

It's always nice when you can end the season with a win.

The AAA Zone 7 Sun Devils did just that on Saturday with an exciting 10-9 victory over the East Central Red Sox. In only their third season of existence the Sun Devils finished with a record of 10-22, representing marked improvement once again this year after going 8-28 in 2024, and 4-30 in their inaugural season back in 2023.

U13 AAA Wildcats rookie Berkeley Penner thrilled to be heading to Western's

In her first year with the U13 AAA Eastman Wildcats, standout player Berkeley Penner has grown as a player, made lots of new friends, and will get to travel Abbotsford, British Columbia, all through the game she loves.

Hosting provincials this past weekend was a big deal, and Penner says the team did very well. "I feel like my team and I did quite well," the 12-year-old star says with a humble smile. "We played well against the other teams, and I feel like we got very close to winning gold."
