Potential location selected for new Lacombe fire station
Lacombe City Council has selected a potential location for the city’s new fire station.
After research and deliberation between regional and provincial stakeholders, the new station is planned for 4410 Woodland Drive, adjacent to the municipal cemetery and easily accessible to Highway 2A.
The location will undergo a formal planning and development process before final approval.

The following decisions were made during Monday's City Council meeting:
Capital Budget
- City Council approved delaying consideration of the 2025 Capital Budget to November 18, 2024.
- The Operating Budget will be considered November 19 until 22, following Capital Budget.

Gushue, Homan pick up victories Monday at Pan Continental Curling Championships
Canada remained undefeated after two days at the Pan Continental Curling Championships taking place this week in Lacombe at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex.
On the men's side, Brad Gushue improved his record to 3-0 with a 10-5 win over New Zealand on Monday. China, Japan, and Team USA also sit with 3-0 records.
Rachel Homan is also 3-0 after Monday's action with a 13-0 win over Chinese Taipei and a 7-5 victory over China. Japan and Korea join Canada with 3-0 records on the women's side.
Update: Temporary closure of Stettler Emergency Department
Due to gaps in physician coverage, the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre Emergency Department (ED) is temporarily closed today (Oct. 29) from 4 p.m. until Oct. 30 at 8 a.m.
The ED was scheduled to be closed all day, however some physician coverage has since been identified.

Saskatchewan Party wins fifth straight majority government, Scott Moe back as premier
Premier Scott Moe and the Saskatchewan Party won a fifth consecutive majority government Monday, losing in the big cities but retaining its iron grip on rural areas to secure victory.
Moe’s party was shut out by Carla Beck’s NDP in Regina and lost all but two seats in Saskatoon.
But it found enough support everywhere else to be elected in 35 seats in the 61-seat legislature, compared with 26 for the NDP.
"Thank you once again, Saskatchewan for placing your trust in our party, the Saskatchewan Party," Moe said as supporters in Shellbrook clapped and whooped.
